Carolina is getting a power play in a 2-2 game with 9:39 left in the third period. The Hurricanes are 0-for-2 tonight and 0-for-7 in the series 5-for-44 in the postseason. No better time than now for them to get the power play going.

Objectively, I know the Habs are basically using the ideal blueprint to have a chance to win this series (fantastic goaltending, pouncing on CAR's aggression & turning their mistakes into HD chances, leaning on star power to overcome the massive puck possession disadvantage).

The Hurricanes will start Jankowski centering Robinson and Carrier with Miller-Walker on D. Montreal counters with Texier-Danault-Anderson with Guhle and Carrier on the back end. Andersen vs. Dobes

Status quo for now, but would not be surprised to see some line tweaks on the road should the #Canes get off to a bad start.
St Louis will get the Suzuki line off of Staal, and if Aho’s line struggles to rein them in, I would expect a Jarvis / Martinook swap.

If I’m making a list of reasons why the Avs are down 3-0:
- Wedgewood has been not very good
- Unforced turnovers in their own end
- Every rush chance for Vegas has gone in
- Not getting enough offence (credit to VGK for this)
I don’t think there’s a single reason outside of their control that explains why they’re down

It *almost* played out exactly that way, but the great adjustment of playing Staal against the Suzuki line pays dividends and Ehlers wins it with his second goal.

The fact that the #Canes were *so* rusty in Game 1 might end up proving to be a strategical disadvantage too — if some units or line matchups need to be tweaked to counter Montreal’s strategy, there’s not much of a way to know until you’re already well into Game 2.

If the #Canes lose tomorrow and both teams on a long layoff go down 0-2, there has to be some research into what teams can do to stay more game ready.
At this point it feels like Carolina and Colorado would’ve been better off playing exhibitions together for the last week.

@Christo73166602 That’s not what the Canes have done though. They have constantly sought to improve, and their offensive system has adjusted with their personnel. IE, significantly more play off the rush the last 2 years as they’ve added skill.

Listen, the #Canes played horribly. But there’s a lot of lazy narratives running wild right now.
Freddie may suck this series, but this game wasn’t on him. The Canes may fail again, but this game was about being completely out of sync defensively, not a failure of style/roster.

I kinda feel bad about how many times in the last 11 years I've pointed out that Freddie Andersen (a very likeble guy!) turns into a pumpkin every spring (just did a Twitter search, and, yikes, I should probably dial it back). But Jonathan Toews and that 2015 WCF left a mark.
