@Samuel_Gregson was kind of hoping for an MGS4 style game. big emotional send off for a core character that would leave me in tears. it wasn't that, but it still was enjoyable and worth the time.

I really want to love RE Requiem. Leon is my guy. However, the Leon sections all seem incredibly linear, lesser versions of parts of RE4. Im finding that I enjoy the Grace sections more and the BSAA camp section where you actually get to explore without the invisible walls.

@Samuel_Gregson definitely liked the grace sections more. but I'm not ashamed to say I got it for the leon story arc. I played RE2 when it came out but didn't start back again until the RE2 remake. so when I heard leon + racoon city I had to know what happened.

@adancingferret Why don’t you just let charlatans and frauds attack your field without challenge. Why do you care? 🙄 The standards for influencers are absolutely in hell.

You get all these cool callbacks and tonnes of fan service but you can’t really enjoy old environments through exploration and the callback encounters all seem to conclude as soon as any excitement and jeopardy begins. It’s frustrating. It can’t touch RE4 for combat.

Attn @FlintDibble : (1) you have been boasting and preening for nearly two years that you "won" your debate on the JRE with me and that your self-proclaimed brilliant performance "tanked" my audience. Usually, it is the loser of a debate, not the winner, who asks for a second round. I must therefore assume that your petulant demands to go "face to face" with me again mean you’ve known all along that you failed yourself and embarrassed your profession very badly when you sat down with me for JRE 2136 and that everything you've said on the matter since then is simply the smelly gas of a deeply insecure man. (2) In your pinned post of March 10th 2026 you accuse me of cowardice and lack of integrity and claim that I "rejected two different offers to go face to face” with you "on major, international media outlets". From whence came the “two different offers” for me to go face to face with you in a second debate? When and where were these “offers” made? And in what way, where, did I reject these offers? (3) For the avoidance of future doubt let me be clear. I am content for JRE 2136, the debate that you claim you won, to stand as the permanent record of what passed between us and to continue to allow those who are still interested to make up their own minds on the matter. I see no point in sitting down with you again to accommodate your neediness.

@Samuel_Gregson @orwellian And, for those not aware: In that book, there isn't really mention of how misinformation spreading is harming science (up to an including putting anti-science worm brains in charge of places), nor how cutting of funding to science programs is an issue. Nope. It's culture wars.

Well known area physicist who constantly claims over indulgent theorists unmoored from experimental data have stalled physics also believes experiments have stalled physics. I guess she needs the "Bell's Theorem has stalled all science" button. Consistency? Not even once.

Sabine Hossenfelder@skdh

he's entirely right of course. even if you think he is wrong, at the very least physicists should think about why everyone else agrees they've lost the plot.

So what? Flint didn't shut up about it since it happened. The only difference is, he wasn't (and rightly so) reinvited on Joe Rogan to tell his bullshit. But there were other podcasts where he did where he did so. There's no reason to "re-litigate the debate". He tanked his credibility and should be forgotten forever.

@Graham__Hancock @FlintDibble But you weren’t content to let the debate stand. You went back on Rogan without Flint to re-litigate the debate. Then Joe had a bunch of your followers on, again without Flint present to again re-litigate the debate. Did you forget these happened and what was talked about?

It is important to spend public funding as efficiently as possible - which is why research priorities are painstakingly debated by huge fields of experts - but please fuck off with the idea that machines that enhance our understanding of the universe and tech are "too expensive".
maya benowitz 🕰️@cosmicfibretion

Listen, I don't want to hear you fucking complain about how expensive colliders and telescopes are as the ruling class attempts to enact their eschatological psychosis.

@Samuel_Gregson This is a dumb conversation. A giant virtue signaling circle jerk with zero meaning. Musk was simply hoping that AI can help with some cheaper experiments. And there’s a reasonable position amongst intelligent people that certain projects may have cost too much.

The amazing JWST ended up costing $10B and was massively behind schedule. Why does no-one give it the hard time like a potential future collider? What did it do to enhance "cosmological foundations"? LamdbaCDM largely holds. When you shift, you see how bad the arguments are.

This is a matter of *how* we choose to spend our money. There are often compelling physics and economic reasons for building new experiments - there certainly are for a new Higgs factory. However, learning about the universe has intrinsic value. Link: youtube.com/watch?v=xtJgh7…
