On February 25, Dr. Michelle Schwartze along with Jessika Zink (@RollaMiddle) and Dr. Saralice Campbell (@WayTigerPR) were able to lead 12 local educators in PLTW Launch exploration! This one day conference explored how to revitalize STEM in the elementary classroom. #PLTWLaunch

The Salem Tigers turned out to support their own senior, Ave Wofford, who has made the important decision to study elementary education at S&T beginning this fall. #solvingfortomorrow

Dr. Shannon Fogg, professor and chair of history and political science and Dr. Mary Gillis, associate teaching professor of education paired up at the Missouri Council for the Social Studies to share about the many possibilities at S&T.

Dr. Jeff Chalfant and Dr. Michelle Schwartze from the Education department presented about static electricity to students @RollaMiddle for their annual STEAM night. Students got to race aluminum cans using static electricity and even try to use friction to stick items to a wall!

Check out the book, Teacher Educators as Scholar Citizens: Activism and Resistance in Uncertain Times. Our own Dr. Beth wrote chapter six, "After the Activism, Then the Committee: Sustaining Educator Preparation Change at the State Level."

Congratulations to senior Heidi Dunn, who will graduate in December with her bachelor's degree in education. Heidi has completed her final semester as a student teacher in 2nd grade at Shenandoah Valley Elementary school in the Parkway school district. #solvingfortomorrow

Congratulations to senior Meaghan Montgomery, who will graduate with a bachelor's degree in history and education. Meaghan finished her final semester interning as an archivist at the St. Charles Historical Society. #SolvingForTomorrow

This is Haley Eggers. Haley will graduate in December with her bachelor's degree in English and Missouri certification to teach high school English. She is completing her final semester as a student teacher back home at Schuyler High School. #SolvingForTomorrow

Meet senior education major, Morgan Luebbering. Morgan is completing student teaching this semester in a kindergarten class in Rolla Public Schools. She will graduate in May with an Early Childhood degree.

Meet senior biological sciences major, Sarah Beetner. Sarah will graduate in December with her B.S. in bio sci and both MO and KS teaching licenses. Sarah is completing her program this semester at Blue Valley high school in Overland Park, Kansas where she is student teaching.

Meet Madison Kastner, a senior dual majoring in English and Education. She will complete her bachelor's degree this fall in both and earn certification to teach grades 5-12 English. For her final semester, Madison is student teaching at Quincy Junior High in Quincy, Illinois.
