Sedge Valley is the fourth course and newest addition at Sand Valley Resort. This Tom Doak design, which opened about a month ago, tips out at a shade under 6,000 yards and plays to a par-68. Doak’s tribute to the heathland courses around London is full of fun half-par holes, drivable par-4s and interesting greens that demand creativity and thoughtfulness. When you play a lot of different golf courses, some of them start to run together, so it’s always notable when you happen upon a place that is truly different and unique. Frankly, I don’t know of another place in the U.S. like Sedge Valley, and it’s immediately become one of my favorite new courses anywhere.
