A great transformation is happening in the drought prone belt of Dhule district. The foundation lies in methodical work by @sevavardhini experts on ground water, along with supporting interventions. Thanks to @mngl_in for supporting this project.

@aparanjape @mairal When people (labour/work force) are just "cost", rather than partners in the enterprise, reductions are inevitable over time. Whether it is due to AI or any other stated reason. This is the brutal fact.

AI isn’t paying off in the way companies think. Layoffs driven by automation are failing to generate returns, study finds fortune.com/2026/05/11/ai-… "A survey of 350 global business executives with an annual revenue of at least $1 billion by the research and advisory firm Gartner found that many have reduced their workforce irrespective of AI adoption. While 80% of those surveyed who have piloted an AI or autonomous technology have reported workforce reductions, the businesses cut jobs due to automation regardless of whether the technology was actually generating returns."

"He [Ashwini Vaishnaw] stated that the last financial year was the safest in the 150-year history of Indian Railways, as accidents had been reduced by 90 per cent" We don't appreciate this kind of unsexy progress enough. As a frequent night train traveller, thank you Ashwini Vaishnaw-ji 🙏 I agree with him that most of our flying should be replaced with high speed trains. India is the ideal geography for trains, both high speed trains and local trains. We can travel Delhi-Mumbai or Chennai-Mumbai in 4-5 hours (Beijing-Shanghai is about the same distance). Now let me come to local city/suburb/exurb train networks. Japan's local train networks are a marvel of both engineering and business planning. Japan has real estate companies that run private local train networks, connecting various suburbs/exurbs. They combine train stations with shopping malls, hospitals and the like. In India, a lot of idle capital locked up in semi-urban or urban real estate can be used to finance the build up by private companies. Japan presents a very interesting model. Now my personal passion: we must build trains to every panchayat in India (250,000 station network!). Building the network will massively stimulate the economy and create rural jobs. Once the infrastructure is done, it will attract higher value economic activity. It will set off a 10-15 year economic boom!

Dear @Airtel_Presence, 10 days later, the service disruption continues. Wiring and junctions are in shambles. Service engineers visit only to take back the cabling, not to repair the systems. Your ground team has neither the resources nor competency nor sincerity.

Dear @Airtel_Presence, please see the condition of the box port for my fibre optic connection. Broken, open to the elements. No wonder the network is flakey with frequent breakdowns. When I show this to your engineers, they laugh it off. Airtel black - 10101022789734.

@Yashodhara ASI experts are on our advisory panel and work will be carried out with their guidance. This monument is not under ASI jurisdiction and they don't have budget for it.

@SandeepShouche Do not undertake private restoration: you will need skills and expertise . Many require artisans that are ASI empaneled so ASI must do the work. Bad examples of poorly done restoration also bordered on vandalism - see Gol Gumbaz or Humayun Tomb facade with lime/cement mistakes

@harsh_1_1 @sevavardhini As a NGO, we are required to keep track of and report all donations, hence I redirected potential donors to our own website, which has a very simple form. Still if some wants to make a direct deposit, please email contact@sevavardhini.org.

@SandeepShouche @sevavardhini Okay, you can share the upi and regular updates (for some people ), will be happy to donate. Set something up and make a post so I can send it to some people too (and others will probably step up too). Otherwise there are platforms but they take commission, cuts and all

@aparanjape @sudhirmehtapune One thinks there should be a ready market for such debris, with so much infrastructure development going on. I wonder why nobody has thought of an app to connect those who need such debris and those who want to dispose it off.

Officially, #Pune processes only ~200 TPD of C&D waste. But realistic estimates suggest actual generation could already be 2,500–3,000 TPD driven by redevelopment, metro, highways and real estate expansion. Much of it never enters the formal system:
• dumped on roadsides
• pushed into riverbanks
• used as illegal landfill
• left on open plots This is becoming one of urban India’s biggest invisible environmental crises. India’s growth story now needs a serious circular construction economy:
recycling debris, reusing aggregates and enforcing scientific disposal. Otherwise our cities will drown in their own expansion.

Mumbai’s construction debris now exceeds its solid waste. Here’s how BMC plans to tackle it Manasi Phadke @manasi87 reports for ThePrint theprint.in/india/governan…

@SandeepShouche @sevavardhini @ASIGoI is a joke in this country. They don't do restoration, they capture the historical sites in the name of restoration and just mint money in the name of that. Thousands of such sites have been ignored in this country without any proper effort for conservation

@madra_deshi @Anamikaa6969 @sevavardhini True. Although this is no accident. This particular site was known to the locals and has so many amazing legends associated with it. The initial excavation was necessary to reveal what lies beneath the soil. Now it is time to engage the experts.

@sanjay_daswani @sevavardhini Indeed there are so many sites. About 20000 in Maharashtra alone. And I am sure in other states too. Time to review, revive and reuse our water heritage.
