Significant reality check by SC Judge Justice Aravind Kumar! Speaking at #lokayuktha40 event in Vidhana Soudha, he highlighted the serious challenges facing the state judiciary. The Karnataka judiciary is generating nearly ₹470 crore in revenue every year. Yet, it is struggling with a massive backlog of 22 lakh pending cases. He requested the government to allocate at least 75-80% of the revenue generated for the government through court fees, stamp duties, and fines... back to the development of the judiciary. The number of pending cases has increased sharply from 17 lakhs in 2023 to 22 lakhs in 2025. There is also a severe shortage of judges, staff, and courtrooms. The new laws require modern infrastructure and more judges to deliver timely justice. However, government officials are either ignoring or delaying the proposals sent by the judicial department. For every citizen to get “Justice in Time”, the Karnataka government must act fast. It is regrettable to see the #NariShaktiVandan initiative fail in the Lok Sabha because the promise of women’s reservation was tied directly to the #DelimitationBill. If these two had been handled separately, we might have finally seen the 33% reservation become a reality. By merging them, the main goal got lost in political disagreements over seat increases and census data, and once again, the dreams of millions of women have been put on hold. It feels like a massive setback, but our spirits remain unbroken.
