#IFF26 Gent Wevelgem 😉 2026! *** Mathieu van der Poel ** Wout van Aert- Philipsen * Laporte - F. Vermeersch - Lund This is a big race. A classic. 240 km with climbs, wind and plugstreets. I feel some think sometimes it is a bit like Kuurne+. Forget it. This is a race for the best. Very strong sprinters might dream but they must survive all the hard parts and the wind should be in their favour. Its not (spoiler.). Back to the race. The key part of the race is the climb of the Kemmelberg. A steep cobbled climb that hurt the legs. Especially after a hard race. In fact the part from 90 - 30 km to go is so hard it will take its toll. I expect a small group in the final and when they hit the last time Kemmel the strongest riders to go clear. Who are the strongest riders in this race: Wout and Mathieu. Like I already mentioned here, I think we’re in for a classic. I dont see anyone on the startlist matching these two. Visma have a strong team to support Wout. He should be their sole leader. Laporte will be of great help. I dont think Brennan will play a role today. He’s been sick and wants racing in the legs. Alpecin have Philipsen too, but I think he plays it more defensively and tries to be in the 2nd group. With Wout and Mathieu and the tailwind it could be a classic sprint a deux. Nailbiter incoming! Mathieu wants to win to add this one to his palmares. Wout wants to win it for his confidence and say goodbye to the Flanders sprint trauma. Bring it on!

#MSR2026 🇮🇹 Milano San Remo - the preview! *** Mathieu van der Poel ** Pogacar - Ganna * van Aert - Pidcock - Philipsen La Primavera. Get ready for the most exciting 40 minutes of cycling. Lets start with the weather. A very important factor in this race. It's a light (cross) headwind up the Cipressa and all the way to the Poggio. Different than last year, where they had a nice tailwind. Headwind means it's harder to ride (solo) on the front and easier to be in the wheels. We all know what the plans of UAE are. Ride as hard as they can up the Cipressa. Try to thin out the group, get rid of the faster guys, and eventually launch Pogi. Last year they rode the Cipressa - with a tailwind - under 9 minutes. With a tailwind and with an almost perfect combi of Wellens/Narvaez clearing the path for Pogi. Still Pogi didnt get rid of van der Poel and Ganna. Van Aert wasn't riding, Pidcock crashed on the foot of the Cipressa. Gregoire was the last to drop. In my view this is impossible to replicate this year. UAE will try, they always will stick to plan A. But the headwind and the uncertainty with positioning will cause troubles. In my view a bigger group will go clear up the Cipressa. Pogi, MVDP, Ganna, Pidcock, Jorgenson, van Aert, Pellizzari, del Toro should be in the front. All eyes will be on UAE. Will they wait for more teammates? That is risky because a way bigger group could come back. I think Del Toro will lead the way all the way to the foot of the Poggio and try to relaunch Pogi the second time. I can see MVDP/Pogi/Ganna/Pidcock even helping this group to the Poggio. Pogi will launch again on the Poggio. And like we saw last year, the explosiveness is what kills the likes of Ganna, Jorgenson, Pellizzari and van Aert. In that case Jorgenson will try to limit the losses and help van Aert (and Ganna/Pidcock) to stay close. They could come back and fight for the win. But - in my view - it will be a 1 vs 1 between Pogi and MVDP on the Poggio. Pogi trying to drop MVDP with all he has and keeping the pace. But in this shape I can see MVDP trying to drop Pogacar as well. If in the end they are equally matched again, they will help eachother and ride to the finish. Mathieu van der Poel wins the sprint.

@MeneerScorito Dit was natuurlijk de wet van Murphy. Vond het uitdagend puzzelen met PN erin. Ik zou zeggen volgend jaar gewoon weer alleen dan 2-3 extra stoeltjes of een extra wissel?

Parijs-N bij het Klass-spel was helaas geen succes, mede door de extreme parcourswijziging. Grote tegenvaller en ik begrijp zeker de frustraties. Uitgangspunt van een aanpassing is altijd om een spel aantrekkelijker te maken. Zo zijn we groot geworden en daar gaan we mee door.
