Damn, body blocking and reducing the amount of reverse hits in Ult really destroy his identity...

the most 2-2'er/anti-problem solver sentence starters ever conceived: "(after asking a question) yeah yeah i already know... (continues having the same problem)" "okay but what if they ... instead?" "i can't do ... because of (unrelated reason)"

the defeatist culture that so many smash players have is so fucking lame. those muteace interaction breakdowns aren't mystical magical knowledge, they're the result of many practiced and focused hours. how are you all so obsessed with getting better but so willing to give up???

Of course it's never good to be hit with Shadow Flare, but it is important to be aware of the extra option you have while the orbs are spinning around you. Don't do this every time though, since if Sephiroth is expecting it, it's not likely to work.

Matchup Tip: Sephiroth If you have a good sense of timing on Shadow Flare, you can get away with throwing out laggy options (like smash attacks), and have Shadow Flare hit you away before you eat a harder punish. This makes otherwise risky reads "safe."

Oops I accidentally quit Smash again 😭 Focusing on career stuff lately but I'll be back.

@Efisi0 Yeah I definitely understand that the answers are harder to find. But I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard smashers unironically think they have no options or agency in a lot of situations where they definitely do.

@SandfallSSB Imo the higher agency does have a role here, as having more options makes navigating through them harder and in a game as varied as Smash it can be very tricky to see outs in the moment. Pokémon TCG being so streamlined makes seeing outs when they exist easier

One thing I noticed during my time playing the Pokémon TCG is the average TCG player is a lot better at “playing to their outs” than the average Smash players is. Which is wild considering how much more agency you have in Smash than in card games.

Is it an uncommon opinion that I like the design of older Shulk more than young Shulk? I feel like I get chills seeing art of older Shulk, it’s so cool.

@Akeru_ssb It's basically doing what you can to maximize your chance of winning, even if the odds are really low. I feel like a lot of smash players tend to give up based on matchup, player, etc. That's not to say there aren't people in tcg with that mentality, but it's less common.

@SandfallSSB What do you mean by "playing their outs"?

I really think this comes down to the fact that stages don't matter much in Ultimate AT ALL with the current ruleset. We should be adding Lylat and the Yoshi stages into the ruleset to make Steve worse, + game more balanced AND game less campy (this accomplishes all 3 at once).

@Arkdee04_Nair @ThePieGod7 There's a better way to approach with shield art and that's to empty hop switch to shield, land with i-frames, then do your mixup. That way you don't have to deal with the mobility nerf it gives and you (usually) don't die if you're wrong.

@Arkdee04_Nair @ThePieGod7 MU isn't that bad tbh. But yeah it's super easy to just run away from shield art or just combo it (people in my region have labbed specific confirms vs shield). It only really works vs people that don't really know the mu or are playing super scared.

Dude I kinda hate the fact that the optimal way to play Shulk is approaching with Shield art and camping with Smash art so you can get Shield art back 😭😭😭

it is easier for 2-2'er ultimate players to switch to melee and do well than it is for 2-2'er melee players to switch to ultimate and do well
