If it is over for Mainieri at South Carolina, 40-40 and 6-28 in SEC games. One of the quickest firings I have seen for a college coach in a major sport ever.

This is what a new “First 12” would look like, based on NCAA seed list, First Four Out, and WAB. Mid-major AQs get pushed down, and still no room for Belmont, New Mexico, Yale, etc. And Akron, South Florida, McNeese likely would’ve missed w/o autobid: si.com/college-basket…

I'm a little surprised the committee put Illinois in Greenville for a potential 2nd-round game vs. North Carolina. Could have put the Illini in OKC or Philly instead (or on the west coast).
Duke/UNC in Greenville will be a tough ticket.

@TomFornelli As a fan of a small school that has never made the tournament, if we somehow ever get in, I don't want to be relegated to the play-in. I want the main draw. I want the recognition and notoriety associated with that.
That's what almost all the kids and supporters would want, too.

I understand the argument that putting the small schools in gives those teams a chance to say they've won a tournament game, and how valuable that is, I do. It's just it seems unfair that a team that qualified it forced to play an extra game than some 19-win team.

It is Selection Sunday, so once again I must express my wish that the play-in games were reserved strictly for teams that did not receive automatic bids.

Florida, for reasons I don’t understand, hasn’t released their FY25 report yet. But in FY24, Floridas operational expenses for baseball were 6.8M. Bout middle of the pack for the SEC.

Florida baseball typically operates at a small operating gain. In 2024, its revenue was $4.3 m meaning its operating budget is ~$4-$5m. That would be bottom 1/4 in the SEC & not even close to a Top 25 budget The Sully criticism is wild bc what coach is supposed to win w/ that?

@akulawolf Honestly, I find it part of the charm of the WBC. No need to take it too seriously, but still a lot of fun. Alexei Ramirez shows up to play for Cuba. Electricians pitch for Czechia. Most of the uniforms are terrible. The scenes in San Juan and Miami are electric. It's all good.
