What a beautiful program to win a world junior championship title: Clair de Lune. Canadians Ava Kemp and Yohnatan Elizarov came from 2nd after the SP to win today at #WorldJFigure with 167.90, winning the free with 105.68.They weren't perfect but they were spellbinding.

Have you ever wondered how they get those great videos of the figure skaters at the Olympics? I think this cameraman deserves a medal too! 🏅

This tells us a lot about what's wrong with men's figure skating today. These programs (each with multiple major errors and falls) can be considered "good" because we're so desensitized to everyone falling all over. #FigureSkating #MilanoCortina2026

@SandraBezic I'm pretty sure the song has been used for exhibition programs before

A music rights question for anyone interested or knowledgeable enough to answer: One thing I've always wondered about is how skaters/coaches occasionally get their hands on a custom recording/version of a commercially-available musical piece. E.g. The very first time I noticed this was Kerrigan's 1993 Free Skate had a custom final segment of the BATB soundtrack with the chorus vocals removed that is not available on the commercially-available soundtrack (that was necessary back then since lyrics were not allowed in Figure Skating at the time). I've also noticed this as recently as Malinin's FS last year: I believe he used instrumental-only sections of his "Falling in Reverse" track with the vocals removed (presumably bc they were explicit) that are not commercially available. Do skaters and coaches simply reach out to the artists or recording studios and ask nicely for access to these paired-down custom recordings? Are these two examples just instances of the artist/studio taking pity on the skater/coach and handing over some custom musical recordings for them to work with?

@cranberrycurd Sandra said the track is fine for a live performance. He didn’t edit it. He just played the song he owns and skated to it. He’ll be fine. x.com/sandrabezic/st…

@SandraBezic from the skaters' perspective, my confusion comes when we are told that we need to go through clicknclear or whatever it's called, so we are essentially being told that we need editing rights for a public performance (also thank you for this explanation!)

@SandraBezic do these events get SESAC licenses too? at smaller events we're told that only ASCAP and BMI are relevant but there are a number of high-profile artists (eg. Adele) that use SESAC as their PRO
