Hon MOSAI @DrRwamiramaBK today launched the Dairy Sector Annual Performance Report for 2022-23 at @UgandaMediaCent highlighting 37 % increase in pdn from 2.81bn to 3.85bn ltrs and forex of $264m from $106m. @SandraMwebaze1 @MAAIF_Uganda

@TimothyKagweza @KagutaMuseveni One of the processors encouraged farmers to increase the feeding of their animals so that milk production can improve. He appealed to farmers to ensure that they adopt feeding strategies that will ensure that milk production is not affected by seasons.

I can't agree more and therefore to shift our focus from liquid milk to processed products like casein and powdered milk for the international market, we need the following your Excellence. 1. Infrastructure for processing 2. Technological expertise 3. Quality assurance and standards 4. Market research and access 5. Logistics and supply chain management 6. Financial grants or loans with low Interest rates 7. Collaboration and support 8. Training and educating farmers 9. Elimination of the mid man 10. Better integrated parasite management (IPM)

I had a fruitful meeting yesterday with dairy farmers from Kazo and Kiruhura districts at Karo Primary School in Nshwere. I emphasised the need to shift our focus from liquid milk to processed products like casein and powdered milk for the international market. These products have great potential for longevity and better prices. I assured them that liquid milk is heavy and very costly for exportation, but if you take time and process it into powdered milk, it becomes light and less expensive.

I started off the day handing over milk buckets and livestock pasture to farmer cooperative groups in Mbarara & Isingiro Districts @DDAUganda South Western Office in Mbarara. The buckets and seed are being distributed to model farmers to encourage clean milk and feed production
