For founders who’d rather spend time on what matters - building. Big props to @pavithran_pc! He’s just getting started 🔥
pc@pavithran_pc

Fundraising is not a full-time job! Early-stage founders often spend too much time searching for and researching investors—time that could be better spent building products and serving customers. What if you had a centralised resource to guide you through the fundraising process, saving you valuable time? We’ve built just that. @IndianVCs offers comprehensive resources for fundraising and hiring, including investor lists, templates, job boards, and networking events. IndianVCs is more than just a product or tool—it's a revolution. And we’d love for you to be a part of it. Welcome to @IndianVCs - indianvcs.com

Instead of Exec Shopping, a more effective approach to cold pitch is the "Triangulation + Relationship method", as advocated by @mattmochary (1/4)

Sajith Pai@sajithpai

Came across this term 'Exec Shopping' for the practice of emailing multiple people in an org (without them knowing each other) in @sriramk 's post 'Two Levels of the Org Table'. Not sure if it is the official term for this type of behaviour, but i will take it. I see this with a lot of cold pitch inbounds which come to me. I get down to reply to it (i try and reply to most cold inbounds), and then I add it to our CRM to find it is already there (added a day or so ago), or I forward it to a colleague and find they have also got it. The founder has written to multiple people in the same org without them knowing each other. It is irritating to find you have spend time processing it, when some one in the org has responded or would have responded to it anyway. When I ask the founder why would you do that (write to multiple folks in the same org without them knowing abt it), they say it is to improve their chances of response. Well, well. All i will say is, dont do this. When you write to multiple folks in an org (without them knowing each other), no one owns your pitch. Most inbounds get forwarded to the sector person anyway and it is annoying for that person to get these forwarded by multiple folks in the team. It is ok, though not preferable, to write to 3-4 people together with them cc'd on the mail. One of them will respond, but then there will be no feeling of ownership for the pitch. It is best to write to one person and build some kind of relationship (and yes, pls do your research on who the right person is in the org). Lastly, i feel for founders when they dont get a response from a VC. Multiple reasons - for one, it has to do with the sheer number of inbounds most VCs get. Also often, there is no one easy reason to say no ---- it is likely that there is something better the VC is wrestling with / or there is something ahead on the stackrank (which i have written about before). So the VC puts off replying. Not the right thing to do, but it is what it is. It is best for the founder to treat this kind of non-response as a signal too, than strive to boost responses by writing to multiple folks.
