@PaulNWilliamz Mixed feelings about this. I think it is fraught to judge character in medical chart but also sometimes put in for my pts with stigmatized conditions (ie. SUD) to try to counteract other notes in the chart, since we know stigmatizing language affects care.

Restricting access to life saving medication for opioid use disorder is misguided and runs the risk of costing the lives of some of our most vulnerable citizens.

This is not the way to ensure safe prescribing. As a buprenorphine prescriber who does a fair amount of telemedicine, I think this bill misunderstands the risks for the medicine and over estimates risk mitigation provided by face to face encounters.

I’ve been reading about a bill that would restrict the use of telemedicine to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder if passed. I worry that this will reduce access to this life-saving, safe medication, especially for people in rural areas. palegis.us/bills/?q=2023/…
