Look I liked Mando and Grogu BUT I do still think it’s funny how people begged for Filoni to be put in charge of Lucasfilm for years, and now that it’s happened literally everyone fucking detests him lmao
The mental gymnastics some people are performing to defend #TheMandalorianAndGrogu are honestly more entertaining than the film itself. All the posts sound like: "Not every movie needs to be good, some can just be fun! It's for kids after all, a fun summer blockbuster! You haters shouldn't care about narrative or characters or stakes or messages or world-building! It's so fun. It really captures the soul of Star Wars because Grogu is so cute and there's so many puppets and aliens! It feels exactly like watching the show. Did I mention how fun it is?!" I know some people are doing this so they get invited to Star Wars events and get some goodie packages from "swagmin", but I am genuinely surprised by some people's willingness to fanatically praise a complete cash grab product of such poor quality. The Sequels certainly did their part in reducing general interest in the franchise, but bringing this movie to theaters 7 years after the abysmal Rise of Skywalker will likely damage this brand beyond repair. People have become completely apathetic to this franchise and unless they really turn things around in the next few years, the cultural phenomenon that Star Wars once was is history.
