It’s been a tough week and am very exhausted from work.
My main goal today will be to get Rocky a big treat. I’m thinking a steak 🥩. Open to suggestions!
Rocky says he hopes you can all have a lovely weekend.
A few months ago, this sweet girl came to us with a broken body and a heartbreaking story 💔
She had been shot, and though we saved her life, the bullets left her paralyzed. But her story wasn’t over yet… we soon discovered she was pregnant.
Because of her injuries, she couldn’t give birth naturally, turning this into a high-stakes, emergency race against time. Our incredible vet team worked amazingly to safely bring these puppies into the world.
While we sadly lost one little soul, four beautiful, healthy miracles made it against all odds. And although mom can’t walk, she’s the strongest mom we’ve ever seen.
Welcome to the world, little ones 🤩🌟
There's just 6 months between these two photos of Sienna. Once a terrified street dog, now a happy doggo waiting to leave the Land for her next adventure.
We always knew she would be the most beautiful girl out there 😍🫶
Self-indulgent post alert: Tickled pink by the comments under this Times article on employers posted on LinkedIn. Thanks to Jane Hamilton for the coverage.
Chuffed to bits
@NiallHarbison That put a bid old smile on my face, Sienna looks incredible, Rocky amazes me every day and the old gang at the beach has made my weekend. Would have loved to seen my man Pedro but we can’t have it all. Happy weekend Doggos, Niall and the whole team ❤️❤️❤️❤️
A little behind the scenes tour of what my Friday looks like and the crazy progress happening everywhere at Happy Doggo.
I wanted to make this video with no editing or planning just to show you what things are really like.
With Rocky appearing at the end ❤️
Please Be Kind To Moles.
They are beneficial to soil health, acting as natural aerators and pest control by consuming lawn-damaging grubs, beetles, and larvae.
They do not eat plants, and their removal often leads to new moles occupying the vacant tunnel system, making it a futile effort.
Apart from that, it is CRUEL!
She had people who cared for her and they asked to use our hospital.
We were able to get the bullets out but sadly she was paralyzed.
Luckily the kind locals agreed to care for her for life. Then the plot twist came… (2/7)
This might be the most remarkable dog story I’ve ever shared.
I’m utterly stunned.
It all started 56 days ago when a dog came into us who had been shot… (1/7) 🧵
@JonathanPieNews@JamesMelville Why not?
Authorities can find out easily who is entitled to be in the country and live and work here.
You are happy to provide ID all the time, at a post office or bank.
It’s knee jerk contrarianism to shout it down.
Of course they will. Hardly anyone wants this mandatory Orwellian intrusion into their everyday lives, but it's been agressively fisted into our law anyway. Isn't modern democracy a wonderful thing?
@NiallHarbison@wearehappydoggo It’s is absolutely just as important as the work you do at large and Atlas would thank you immensely for the life you have given him this far. He is very proud to call you a friend ❤️❤️❤️
I've got enough experience doing this to know that it's probably going to be weeks rather than months for Mr. Atlas. Our wonderful house dog at @wearehappydoggo has had two huge operations and we've given him every chance imaginable.
I've just noticed in the past few days that his energy levels have dropped. He's taken an extra hour in his bed. He's having longer lounges on the couch. His energy has dipped and his eyes are just that little bit cloudy. that has all been confirmed by blood work and lots of different tests.
We are a rescue and ultimately we're judged on how many dogs we can save. I always knew that it would be a quality of life thing with Atlas and that ultimately we would not be able to give him a long life. I do happen to believe, though, that the work we do in making these dogs happy at the end of their lives is just as important as anything else we do at scale.
Atlas is still at that stage where he has great spurts of energy and goes on walks and looks for attention from all his favorite humans. We'll wrap him up in cotton wool, pamper him, shower him in love and get him all the meds he can have. No stone will go unturned to make sure Atlas continues to live his dream life while he can.
I always say that dogs live in the moment. Atlas can't remember his horrid times on the streets or his massive tumor that he carried around for years. All he knows is the love, attention, great food, and wonderful life he will have today. Every other day will be a bonus and we’ll be with him every step of the way ❤️
@BillWiIdin The thing with home working is it gets abused. I don’t care what anyone says. Out of all the people I know who work from home 1 of them doesn’t take the piss. All of them work for the government in one capacity or another. So the drain is of course on us, the tax payers
If you work from home, you shouldn't get a full salary since you're basically Babysitting your own life on company time. If you have time to start a load of laundry between meetings, you’re technically a part-time employee.
Live tracking of all the Labour MPs wanting Starmer out.
51 and counting. I hope they get what they need and end this anti-democratic travesty.

@NiallHarbison I’m going to learn from Rocky too, today is a good day and tomorrow isn’t being thought about, I’m living for the day. Thank you Rocky ❤️
15 days ago, Rocky came in as close to death as is possible for a dog to be. It has been a battle to get him back into shape but I think you will agree that he is looking fantastic.
People often ask me how you put up with the cruelty when you deal with dogs and it's a very good question. The answer actually comes from dogs themselves. You have to take it one day at a time. What has happened in the past is the past. All we can do, just like dogs, is enjoy the moment and the day that we have.
Today was a gorgeous sunny Sunday and myself and Rocky had smoked salmon. He followed me for a proper walk down Hope Avenue. He had lots of belly rubs and he was as gentle and kind as a dog could be.
Sometimes you just have to forget about what's happened in the past and not look too far into the future. We're all very guilty of it but Rocky has taught me to enjoy the moment, the present.
He’s a very good boy is our Rocky ❤️
On the eve of the initial hearing, I reflect back on the past three weeks of this fight to #SaveLucy, the dog I rescued from war ten years ago who has been taken by the police.
It began small, reaching out to friends and acquaintances with a petition that we didn't know would ever reach 100 names. Now it sits at 1,600 and is still climbing. The day they took my dog, I felt numb. All I could think to do was tell the story on X. I shared it on a post by @mattvanswol and it got 100 likes. Now my posts are being viewed almost 100 thousand times a day. It's been quite the journey.
The Lord works in mysterious ways. I wouldn't have chosen to go through this, but in a strange way, I am thankful that I have.
It's given me more time with Lex, our other military rescue dog. Sweet, silly Lex has always been the overlooked step-child in this family, but no more. As Lucy once filled a need that was created by a separation from my newborn son, Lex is now filling the need caused by a separation from Lulu, my desert pearl.
I have long thought that I should catalogue old family photos and videos, but I never got around to it. Life was always too busy, or so I told myself. It wasn't. I just didn't have my priorities in order. I do now. You can't stop time. You can't stop kids from growing up. You can't stop dogs from growing old. You shouldn't. Never forget to be present in the moment. You will never get it back. Memories are the only keepsakes.
This has given me a chance to get to know hundreds, if not thousands, of great people. I've done my best to keep up with comments and messages you all have sent me about Lucy, but I know I've been missing some. I appreciate you all. Special thanks to @LoneStarChica.
Most importantly by far, however, I am grateful for the spiritual awakening that this ordeal has occasioned in me. If it takes hard times for me to be this receptive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, then I pray to God to never remove the thorn from my flesh (okay, maybe not this particular thorn) that has tuned my heart, with precision, to sing praises to the Lord. For,
"What tho' my joys and comforts die?
The Lord my Saviour liveth;
What tho' the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night he giveth.
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging;
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?"
Praise to Him who brings songs in the night to allay my fears. Whose rod and staff comfort me, even in the shadow of death. Who promises that joy comes in the morning. Praise to a God whose power is made perfect in weakness.
Thank you God, for making me low. Please be with my dog. If it be your will that Lucy is reunited with her family, make it so. If not, give us the strength to endure and to better discern your will for our lives.
Amen
Our fighter, Rocky. 😍 From barely making it through his first night to defying the odds every day since—he is the definition of resilient. The journey ahead is long, but we know he’s got this! 💪🏻🥰
