Yet another disgraceful performance from the Prime Minister today at PMQs. Why won’t you answer the question, @Keir_Starmer?

Tory and Labour governments have paid France £700 million of British taxpayers’ money to stop the boats. 1,000 undocumented men have crossed the English Channel in the last week alone. Reform UK will stop this scam and deport all illegal migrants.

Today we learned that the Home Secretary, holder of one of the great Offices of State, is content with a situation in which women’s rights are placed behind those of men. This country has fought hard for women’s rights, and no religion, ideology or community should ever be allowed to undermine them.

Confirmation that the Home Secretary is content to roll back centuries of progress on gender equality by allowing a culture that restricts women from participating in society on equal terms with men.

When in a country with different mainstream religious principles and traditions to your own, it is widely accepted that you respect the customs of the nation you are in. I believe most British people would not think of doing otherwise. Recent mass Iftar events in Trafalgar Square and large scale Eid prayers in Birmingham and elsewhere cut sharply against that principle. Britain is a tolerant nation, but that should never mean failing to defend our own traditions or allowing them to be dominated for fear of causing offence. We are a country with a Christian heritage. Our laws, institutions and national life have been shaped by that tradition over centuries. Our King is Head of the Church of England and has a duty as Defender of the Faith. Many like me take great pride in our identity and believe it should be protected. Mass prayers in iconic public locations by religions whose traditional interpretations conflict fundamentally with Western values such as equality for women, gay rights and democratic freedom do not accord with British values. Public displays of religion on this scale are not in keeping with that balance. They risk appearing as a show of dominance that excludes and divides.

The last few weeks have shown that this is no time to weaken our armed forces. We must support them, invest in them and recognise Scotland’s pivotal contribution to the defence of our United Kingdom.

No religion should be beyond humour. But Labour’s mask slips when they criticise a light hearted comment. It does not sit with the sectarian, authoritarian state they have tried to build in Great Britain, which seeks to divide, dominate and erode British culture. Their project is failing, just as it did in the Gorton and Denton by election.

Halton Borough Council has been run into the ground by Labour. The council has a £19 million overspend and has had to secure emergency loans. Meanwhile, @reformparty_uk led councils have saved ratepayers £45 million this year alone, and £325 million from council spending overall. There is a lot wrong with this country and it will take time to fix it. But restoring financial common sense and treating taxpayers’ money with respect is where it starts.
