I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Ann Widdecombe. She was a remarkable woman and a truly lovely lady. I greatly admired the speeches she made as Prisons Minister. More recently, she stayed with me and was wonderful company over dinner, full of wit, warmth and extraordinary stories. She was still campaigning hard only weeks ago, with all the determination and spirit for which she was so well known. And woe betide anyone who tried to stand in her way. She will be greatly missed.

Establishment party leaders have been slating Nigel every day for years now. Presented with an opportunity to make a case to voters and beat him at the ballot box? They run for the hills. Cowardly and transparent. The establishment is on the ropes.

If you think you can defeat Nigel Farage democratically, stand a candidate. It’s that simple. Any other outcome shows your weakness.

The establishment have attacked, briefed and smeared in a relentless attempt to bring down Nigel Farage. But Nigel’s answer is simple: let the people of Clacton decide.

Two years ago, Clacton was represented by a Conservative MP. Today, the Tories are so frightened of losing their deposit (for the third by-election in a row) that they will not even stand against Nigel Farage. How far they have fallen.

This is the people versus the establishment. The people of Clacton are sovereign. Nigel Farage’s decision to put himself before them and seek their judgement is real bravery and real leadership. If other parties choose not to contest this by-election, it will mean one thing and one thing only: They are scared.

I am going to do the morning ‘’media round’ tomorrow. Reform has been inundated with bids. Except there’s ONE outlet that has REFUSED to bring on a Reform representative. The outlet: Sky News. We are witnessing the real-time destruction of a news channel.

Sky News have been exposed for lying after @Nigel_Farage published the footage. There is never an excuse for targeting the children of politicians. Their pathetic defence was that Nigel wasn’t answering questions… when they knew he was out of the country meeting the Vice President of America. They then hosted Adam Boulton to defend Sky’s behaviour on air. Who is he? A close friend of Peter Mandelson whose wife was a senior advisor to Tony Blair and who has just been made a peer by Keir Starmer. This is the type of media organisation that Lisa Nandy wants to give privileged status to. It’s all a cosy club. But it won’t wash anymore. Nigel Farage and Reform UK are here to shake things up. Bring it on.

The establishment will do almost anything to stop Reform UK, including, it seems, using instruments of the state. They are terrified of the British people having their say.

Several media organisations have been hounding my daughter. When I approached the boss of Sky News and complained, they denied any contact — and so did their news report. Sky News are liars. I demand an apology from them and a promise not to repeat it.

This by-election will be the people versus the establishment. If the other parties refuse to stand in Clacton, it will show one thing and one thing alone: they are scared of @Nigel_Farage, scared of @reformparty_uk, and scared of being held to account by the British people.

The establishment is terrified of Nigel Farage. They will do almost anything to stop @reformparty_uk, including changing the law, cancelling elections and targeting Nigel’s family. There is a line you simply do not cross.

In the House of Commons this afternoon, I challenged the Government on why British elections are not reserved for British citizens, called for a review of cases where foreign nationals convicted of child sex offences should be deported, and asked why there is still a defence funding shortfall amid rising welfare costs, foreign aid spending and Net Zero schemes. Britain’s priorities need to change.

Following the early release of child rapist and grooming gang leader Shabir Ahmed, I asked the Government whether anyone else in similar circumstances remains in Britain because their deportation has failed. The Minister says not. Let us hope he is right.

The establishment’s attacks on Nigel Farage are becoming relentless, just as predicted. Large parts of the political and media establishment are petrified by Nigel’s popularity and the success of @reformparty_uk. They will seize on any story, however old, even those from known adversaries and rooted in past grievances, in an attempt to damage him. His MPs are behind him. His party is behind him. And increasingly, the country is behind him too. It will not work.

“It was the third time Ahmed, 73, had been turned down for release by the Parole Board after refusing to accept his guilt and exhibiting “risk factors”, including a belief that it was “acceptable to sexually abuse children”. This man raped 30 girls, some as young as 12. He is now walking our streets.
