Women in early Islam: The slave who became like a mother to the Holy Prophet Hazrat Umme Aiman’s name was Barakah. She was known by the title of Umme Aiman (Umm Ayman) due to her son, Aiman. She was originally from Abyssinia. She was a servant of Hazrat Abdullah, the father of the Holy Prophet (sa). Following the demise of Hazrat Abdullah, she stayed with Hazrat Amina. When the Holy Prophet (sa) was six years old, his mother took him with her from Mecca to Medina. Hazrat Umme Aiman accompanied them as a servant on that occasion. She would have been young at that time. On the return from Medina, when they reached Abwa, which is at a distance of five miles from Masjid Nabawi, Hazrat Amina passed away. Hazrat Umme Aiman brought the Holy Prophet (sa) back to Mecca on the two camels they originally set out with. Prior to the Holy Prophet’s claim to prophethood, Hazrat Umme Aiman married Ubaid bin Zaid in Mecca, who was a slave of Abyssinian descent. A son was born to them, who was named Aiman. Hazrat Aiman attained the status of martyrdom during the Battle of Hunain. The husband of Hazrat Umme Aiman passed away, and she was subsequently married to Hazrat Zaid. According to one narration, Hazrat Umme Aiman treated the Holy Prophet (sa) with utmost kindness and took great care of him. As a result of this, the Holy Prophet (sa) said that whoever wishes to rejoice by marrying a woman from among the inhabitants of paradise, he should marry Umme Aiman. Thereafter, Hazrat Zaid (ra) bin Haritha married her and they were blessed with a son, Hazrat Usama (ra). Hazrat Umme Aiman migrated towards Abyssinia along with the other Muslims. Following this migration, she returned to Medina and participated in the Battle of Uhud. During the battle, she gave water to people and tended to the wounded. She also had the opportunity to participate in the Battle of Khaybar. Hazrat Umme Aiman passed away towards the beginning of the caliphate of Hazrat Uthman (ra). Following the Reality of the Prophet’s (sa) Practice Many Muslims today are unfamiliar with the true teachings of Islam. If they see someone praying in shoes, they object, bound by assumptions and rigid formalities. Yet the Holy Prophet (sa) was the perfect model, who considered real circumstances over unnecessary rules. Such intolerant attitudes sadly persist even today. ▶️ Stream the full Friday Sermon now on the MTAi App, via mta.tv, or via youtube.com/mtaonline. Belief in God is not blind faith – it is a rational choice that develops into certainty. Muslims may reach a point where they find that reason, the ability to think and make judgments, cannot by itself prove all aspects of faith. Reason has clear limitations. Yet the teachings of Islam bring one closer to an absolute and objective reality, surpassing those limitations. Islam is not opposed to reasoning. On the contrary, it encourages believers to ground their doctrines in clear evidence and sound judgment, in harmony with the laws of nature and shariah. Belief is not meant to rest on hearsay or unexamined tradition. Reason, defined as the ability of a healthy mind to judge based on practical facts, is precisely the type of reasoning Islam promotes, as faith aligns with human nature. Historically, religious and political authorities suppressed reason, leading to movements such as the Enlightenment. While this enabled critique of dogma, it also produced the false assumption that faith and reason cannot coexist, giving rise to the claim: “I don’t believe in God, I believe in science.” Yet Islam praises reason. The Promised Messiah (as) described it as the crown of humanity, whose proper use leads to excellence and progress. Human reasoning operates through two sources of knowledge: historical testimony and physical observation through repeated experimentation. These have driven scientific advancement, yet they remain limited. Conclusions based on reason depend on existing facts and conditions, and new evidence may always emerge. Even great minds like Galileo and Marie Curie suffered due to these limitations. Perfect certainty, as defined by the Promised Messiah (as), is a belief leaving no room for doubt, where the heart is fully convinced. Reason alone cannot achieve this. Human experience also shows that acts of love, sacrifice, and faith often transcend rational calculation. Thus, there exists a third and higher source of knowledge: revelation. The Holy Quran claims to be divine guidance, revealed by the All-Knowing and All-Wise God, free from error and contradiction. The Holy Quran continues to reveal truths later confirmed by science. Reason is a tool; revelation is the source of certainty. Science uncovers God’s work, while the Quran reveals God’s word. Both reflect the same ultimate truth. Tap on the link in bio to read more 👆

In a recent meeting, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad reiterated his long-standing message that the United Nations is failing due to the injustice of the veto power, blocs are being formed, reckless leaders are causing more division, and that we must turn towards God to be saved from catastrophe. “We should pray, warn people, and work harder on how we can create peace in the world. But outwardly, it seems as if there is no way back. So we must turn to God even more now, as only those who truly love God Almighty will be saved from the fire.”

His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad has long been warning that the inherent injustice in the United Nations means it faces the same fate as the League of Nations, which failed to prevent the outbreak of war. A Yearning to Sacrifice 🇷🇺 Beloved Huzoor (aba) related the account shared by the missionary in Russia about a sincere new Ahmadi, Ikram Jan Sahib, who felt deep distress at being unable to offer his Chanda for a short period. His prayers were not for business success or personal gain, but solely for the opportunity to make a sacrifice in the way of Allah. What followed became a clear manifestation of Allah the Almighty’s grace. (Friday Sermon, 9th January 2026) #FridaySermon #MTAi

Major powers failed to heed the words of a global Muslim leader, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, for over two decades. Now, as the world stands on the brink of a global catastrophe, will world leaders at least pay attention to the warnings of His Holiness Pope Leo for the sake of collective peace and humanity?
