🚩 Here is a list of players whose fitness levels can be questioned at the #RolandGarros (*disclaimer at the end) 🇫🇷 Fils – retired in Rome with a hip injury a few weeks back. Rumours have it he didn’t train much at the grounds before today (Friday). 🇩🇪 Zverev – withdrew from Hamburg due to lower back issues. 🇧🇷 Fonseca – withdrew from Hamburg due to a right wrist injury. 🇫🇷 Muller – a series of poor showings in recent weeks. Suffers from Crohn’s disease, which can really impact his fitness (exhaustion, dehydration, stomach pain, weight issues) when it flares up. 🇦🇷 JM Cerundolo – withdrew from Geneva last week due to a left hip injury. Although it could very much be precautionary, as he won the Bordeaux Challenger and likely just didn’t want to push himself right before Roland Garros. 🇭🇺 Fucsovics – just 3 clay-court wins this season and withdrew from his last two tournaments in Valencia and Geneva. 🇨🇦 Shapovalov – coming off two very poor showings, received medical attention for his back in a recent match, and withdrew from Hamburg last week. 🇺🇸 Spizzirri – first match since Dallas in February due to an elbow injury. 🇬🇧 Norrie – below-par performance in Geneva where he needed several MTOs for his back. 🇵🇱 Majchrzak – just one match since April due to a knee injury. 🇲🇨 Vacherot – only one match in the last month; withdrew from Rome and Hamburg with a left foot injury. 🇨🇳 Wu – no matches in May, withdrew from the Bordeaux Challenger a few weeks back. Unfortunately, his body seems made of glass and he’s always questionable in a longer format. 🇳🇱 Van de Zandschulp – retired in his last match in Bordeaux a few weeks back due to a left wrist injury. 🇭🇷 Prizmic – received an MTO for his right thigh in his last match in Rome and was a late withdrawal from Geneva. 🇺🇸 Fritz – just one match played since late March, in Geneva last week, and understandably looked rusty. 🇰🇿 Shevchenko – retired in his last match in Bordeaux a few weeks back. Although it was a bit mysterious, as no MTO was taken and he was a set and a double break down. 🇨🇦 Diallo – retired in Madrid a month ago due to a lower back injury and withdrew from all events this month. 🇦🇷 Tirante – received an MTO for his left arm in Geneva, which seemingly affected his performance. 🇦🇺 Kokkinakis – just two matches played since the Australian Open in January, both in the Zagreb Challenger, where he also withdrew from the event after two wins in qualifying. 🇪🇸 Carreno Busta – withdrew from the QF in Valencia a few weeks back due to a right shoulder injury. 🇺🇸 Opelka – retired in Madrid a month ago due to a right shoulder injury and withdrew from all events this month. 🇫🇷 Mannarino – just allergic to clay :) 🇨🇿 Machac – withdrew from Rome due to a virus and then skipped Hamburg for the same reason. 🇧🇪 Bergs – withdrew from Hamburg with a right elbow injury.
