On behalf of the Saskatchewan Federated Police Officers (SFPO), we are reflecting on the life of Jim Pratt—a man many of us have known and respected for decades. The loss of Jim is deeply personal to our membership; we were truly lucky to walk alongside him. A proud member of the Muscowpetung Saulteaux Nation, Jim was a pioneer in Saskatchewan policing. In the early 1980s, he was part of the first group of First Nations members hired by the Regina Police Service, where he served for 25 years. Jim was more than an officer; he was a mentor and a bridge-builder. Whether serving as a member of the RPS or spending 16 years at SaskPolytech instructing the Aboriginal Police Prep Program, Jim ensured Indigenous perspectives remained at the heart of the work. He taught us to lead with humility and to live life to the fullest every day. His leadership will live on through the many officers he shaped. Rest in peace, Jim. You will be greatly missed and forever remembered. @QueenCityPolice @SPAssoc #WeyburnPoliceAssociation @WeyburnPolice @papassoc #MooseJawPoliceAssociation @MJPolice #EstevanPoliceAssociation @Estevan_Police #SFPO #ReginaPolice #Muscowpetung #JimPratt #Legacy #KnowledgeKeeper #IndigenousLeadership #SaskatchewanPolicing #SaskPolytech

Incredible work by our partners at @TorontoPolice @tps33div. This "routine" stop resulted in 90kg of cocaine being taken off the streets—a major win for public safety across the country. The Saskatchewan Federation of Police Officers sends a big salute to the officers involved for their sharp eyes and dedication. Well done! @QueenCityPolice @SPAssoc #WeyburnPoliceAssociation @WeyburnPolice @papassoc #MooseJawPoliceAssociation @MJPolice #EstevanPoliceAssociation @Estevan_Police | #PoliceFamily | #TorontoPolice

The 𝗦𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 is proud to announce 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱 and 𝗦𝗴𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 of @Estevan_Police Service as recipients of the Blue Spirit of Saskatchewan Award. This honour recognizes service "beyond the badge" that betters the community—a standard both men have lived for decades. They both have served in Estevan for years. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗿𝗱 founded the Southeast Military Museum while 𝗦𝗴𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 has spent 30 years coaching youth hockey. While many of us know them for their bravery during a critical incident in November 2023, this award recognizes the decades of compassion and professionalism they have poured into Estevan long before that day. To celebrate their dedication, the 𝗦𝗙𝗣𝗢 donated $1,000 to the 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝘆𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗙𝗣𝗢 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱? Nominate them: saskpolice.com/community-awar…

Journalists kept calling experts who would give the "we can't police our way out of..." and "...address root causes" lines on every crime story over the past 5 years. Turns out one of the main root causes of crime is criminals, and we absolutely can police our way out if we try:

Thanks to the Regina Police Service for their alert to raise awareness about the alarming rise of scammers demanding payments via Bitcoin and other methods. It's essential to stay informed and protect yourself! Scammers often employ various tactics, including wire transfers, gift cards, Bitcoin payments and even requesting access to your bank accounts. Remember, no legitimate government agency or police service will ever ask for payment in Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency. It’s crucial to stay vigilant. If you suspect that you’ve encountered a scam, don’t hesitate to reach out for help. You can contact the Regina Police Service at 306.777.6500 or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
