It's still pretty cold out, so a quick reminder on the spots you can go and warm up in and around Saskatoon. Have extra warm clothes and gear you're not using? Donate it to local organizations like Prairie Harm Reduction, Sage Clan, or SIMFC to help out! #yxe @cityofsaskatoon

Skills we’re more likely to use in the colder months! Hypothermia wraps are made up of insulating and vapour barrier layers to help keep a patients body heat in, and are very useful in both urban and rural searches. Photo credit: Sean T. #searchandrescue @ProjectLifesavr

Shoulder season training time! The seasons may change but our training never stops. Starting with a Project Lifesaver exercise and moving into care for and extrication of a hypothermic patient, we took the time on Sunday to train various skills.

Lastly, Flagging tape! Flagging tape can be used on its own, or with other methods for self guiding in the wilderness. Flagging your trail in a bright colour gives you a way of knowing where you’ve come from, and the ability to retrace your steps. End 🧵

Another option: Compass and Maps! This may take some practice, but navigating using a compass and a map is possible anywhere! Whether taking a bearing, sighting, or steering yourself to where you want to go, take time to practice this old as time, tried and true method. 6/🧵
