At our Microgravity for Biopharma Matchmaking Workshop - which took place yesterday in Manchester - stakeholders from across life sciences and space came together in project teams to move from theory to action, pitching for @IBIC_NW funding and Catapult commercial support.

They explored how microgravity is unlocking new frontiers in pharmaceutical R&D - highlighting both the transformative potential and the practical challenges of conducting drug development in space, including cost, regulation, and infrastructure.

Over the past year, we’ve worked with regulators, health stakeholders, and government to define how microgravity research fits existing approval frameworks. Our workshops explored evidence needs, appraisal processes, and implications for the NHS value chain.
