Day 3: When Letting Go Is the Most Sacred Thing We Can Do We are often told that Rama simply left the kingdom. But when we look closer, something deeper was happening. He left His home, the walls that witnessed His childhood. He left His people, who looked at Him with love and trust. He left His identity and everything He had been prepared to become. And yet there was no bitterness, no complaint. Most of us can accept a loss only when it makes sense, when it feels temporary, when we know what comes next. Rama had none of that. When He left Ayodhya, the city wept. People followed Him, pleading, reasoning, breaking down. Yet Rama walked onward. Not because He did not feel, but because He was not bound by what He felt. We tend to believe that love means holding on. But attachment quietly transforms affection into identity. We stop merely loving and begin depending. We stop simply serving and begin defining ourselves by the role. Without noticing, our sense of self begins to live outside of us, and therefore becomes unstable. On the path of bhakti, Guruji works with immense patience and love to free us from exactly this. He will never let us build our identity on what cannot last. When meaning begins to loosen, when relationships shift and when things that once gave us confidence no longer hold, it feels like loss. It’s raw, personal and undeserved. But if we pause, something deeper becomes visible. Perhaps nothing essential is being taken away. Perhaps only the illusions we mistook as our foundation are being gently moved aside. Rama did not become less when He left Ayodhya. He became more visible, more real, because nothing external remained to define Him. This is what Guruji does. He does not take away to punish. He takes away so we can stand freely, no longer dependent on what once reflected our worth. Devotion is not measured by how tightly we hold on. It is revealed by how freely we can let go without losing our center. Rama carried Ayodhya as memory, as gratitude, as devotion, but never as identity. That is why He remained free. The path asks the same of each of us. Not to stop loving, but to stop being bound by what we love. True devotion does not shrink when something is taken away. The word Maa is so sweet. Bhagavan Himself took form and came to this world of limitation, just to experience the extraordinary love of a mother. The sweetest and humblest love. Always complete yet the mother never feels she has adored and cared for her baby enough. Such is the love of a mother. This word Maa, that a child speaks so simply. Usually their first word in this world. The very first sound they learn. The most natural and joyous outpouring of the closeness the child feels to their mother. Maa. To experience the utmost sweetness of this relationship Sri Krishna came as Yashoda’s Nandlal. Sri Ram came as Kaushalya Nandan. Even the Supreme Lord of the Universe longs to be held close and dear to the Mother’s heart. Such is her glory. Such is her beauty. Such is her humility. That she never thinks about herself. Only about her child. Only how to care for her child, how to protect her child. Even if the child is extraordinary, gifted, divine, for the mother all she cares about is that her beloved little baby is happy, safe, loved, and has the best of everything. Maa Yashoda would personally make butter for and feed her Kahna. Maa Kaushalya would stitch Sri Ram’s baby clothes by hand just so that she could be ever so close to her baby. They were queens, brought up in luxury, with every comfort at their fingertips. But they thought nothing of all that and served their beloved child with all their heart. My mother was a simple lady. Sweet, humble, caring, she never sought to be recognized and first in the crowd. Always content with being at the back. Always smiling. Always trying to love more and more deeply. Such a person, it is a privilege to be her child. To be known by her identity in this world. To have had such precious time with her in this world is a jewel of my life. She is beautiful because of her Humily what an example , this year 2 most humble soul which was close to me left this reality to the eternal first my beloved little sister Anuragini she was only 38 and now my beautiful mother .So much gratitude in Bhagavan’s plan that she was who gave birth to me. With all my heart, in endless love, we are always together in Bhagavan’s Prem.
