🇺🇦 Reuters: Ukraine, forced to boost gas imports after Russia damaged its gas production infrastructure, has begun storing gas in its underground facilities in preparation for the ‌next heating season. Since last autumn, Russia has been attacking the Ukrainian power grid nearly daily, targeting both power stations and gas fields, most of which are located in frontline regions. Ukraine now imports an average of 25-26 million cubic meters of gas daily, mostly from Hungary and Poland. Ukraine has also started building up gas reserves regularly, pumping about 130 gigawatt-hours a day into storage. As of March 17, Ukraine’s underground storage facilities, some of the largest in Europe, were already almost 16% full. The Ministry of Energy previously stated that they intend to start the 2026-2027 heating season with gas reserves of at least 13 billion cubic meters - approximately the same as in the previous season.
