‼️👀 Russians withdrew 513 billion rubles in cash from their accounts in two weeks—banks are losing more than 1 billion rubles an hour.
From July 1 to 16, demand for cash doubled compared to June, when 479 billion rubles were withdrawn in the entire month. Since February, the volume of cash in circulation has increased by 2.4 trillion rubles.
The Central Bank of Russia attributes this increase to mobile internet shutdowns, tax changes, and the holiday season.
The share of non-performing loans exceeded 11%, and among small businesses, one in six is delinquent.

🇺🇸The count of Americans sitting outside the workforce climbed to a new extreme in June 2026, reaching a total of 105.8 million people.
The longer-run comparison is stark: the US labour non-participation pool stood at 68.7 million at the start of the century, and it now equals 38.5% of the 16-and-over population, the highest reading since the 1970s outside the pandemic window.
On the short-term front, June’s unemployment rate dipped to 4.2% from expectations of 4.3%, but the decline came alongside a 0.3 percentage point slide in labor force participation to 61.5%.
In other words, the jobless rate improved partly because some people stopped searching for jobs rather than because hiring surged, and the employment-to-population ratio also moved lower.
Is this a disconnect between the US stock market and the labour market:
A) Yes;
B) No?

🇰🇿‼️🇺🇦 Kazakhstan condemned Ukrainian strikes on oil tankers carrying Kazakh oil in the Black Sea on July 17 and 19.
"We view such attacks as an unacceptable infringement on the economic interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as targeted actions to destabilize legitimate international trade," the ministry stated.
Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) announced that on July 19, drones attacked two tankers carrying Kazakh oil—Asia and Nissos Ios—at the CPC Marine Terminal near Novorossiysk. As a result, the loading of the oil was halted.

🇵🇱🇺🇦 Polish Defense Minister said that after Russia's largest-ever missile strike on Ukraine and reports of Russia preparing for a new mobilization, calls to weaken support for Kyiv are "detached from reality."
He stressed that Poland will continue to strengthen its own defenses and will do everything to ensure that Russian missiles never reach Polish territory.

‼️🇺🇸 NYT: The Trump administration is wary that overusing sanctions on Russia could encourage more countries to move away from the U.S. dollar, weakening its dominance in global finance.
As a result, it has been scaling back some sanctions while seeking to preserve flexibility in using them as a diplomatic tool.

🇫🇮Finnish company HMD has launched a range of retro Nokia brick phones with limited internet capabilities and an AI assistant button integrated into the centre of the keypad.
Like many dumbphones, these 4G feature phones were designed to combine the simplicity and affordability of old-school Nokias with a limited set of amenities needed for modern life.
The phones feature a large AI button at the centre of the D-pad that can be used to summon a chatbot assistant, powered by a Chinese company Sikey AI.
A chance for the return of Nokia:
A) Yes;
B) No?

😈💥 Ukrainian strikes are turning Crimea into Russia's "Achilles heel" – The Economist
Long-range Ukrainian strikes against bridges, oil depots, airfields, and transport infrastructure are hampering the occupation forces' supply lines, and isolating the peninsula could become a key trump card for Kyiv in upcoming negotiations.
Of the 692 Ukrainian strikes on Crimea since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than half were carried out in the past 12 months. Almost one in five attacks occurred after June of this year alone.
