Has anyone actually read Alan Seymour’s “The One Day of the Year”?
Thematically the play is about coming of age rather than just Anzac Day. Alongside Anzac Day – the nation’s coming-of-age myth – we have a young man who is also growing up. Like the nation, he needs to cast off the old and move into a new way of thinking.
