I've spent the last several months researching, travelling, and studying why countries like Singapore, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Canada and Finland built some of the world's best public education systems. One thing became clear: Nigeria doesn't just have an education problem. We have a school management problem. Today, I'm releasing a white paper that proposes a new way to transform our public schools, keeping them publicly owned while introducing world-class management and accountability. This isn't about politics. It's about giving every Nigerian child the opportunity to attend a world-class public school. Today, the T.N. Onodingene Family of Abor, Udi LGA, Enugu State, made this facility available for free to serve as one of the 2027 South East Mathematics Olympiad Preparatory Centre and also one of the official examination venues. The facility features a 60-computer CBT centre, 24/7 internet access, a physical library, an 80-seat conference hall, and three dedicated workstations. Students from any part of the country are welcome to use the facility free of charge. This is the kind of investment in education that transforms lives and creates opportunities for generations to come. We captured this beautiful moment as Egejurum Onyedikachi and Don-Anele Munachimso arrived at Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, yesterday to a true hero's welcome. These are not football stars. They are not musicians. They are not politicians. They are children. Children who became the world's best in Mathematics in the Primary and Senior categories. Don-Anele Munachimso is also the world's best in Science. The last literary figures from the South East to receive this kind of heroic public welcome were Chinua Achebe and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. Watching our brightest young minds being celebrated like national heroes gives me hope. For too long, we have celebrated almost everything except academic excellence. That is beginning to change. Education is reclaiming its rightful place in our society, and a generation of children is growing up believing that knowledge, hard work and excellence deserve standing ovations too. This is bigger than two children. This is the beginning of a movement.

The 3 wise men from the East are set to head to Rome: Chimdiebube Onwubiko, Egejurum Onyedikachi, and Don Anele Munachimso. Their assignment is simple: bring back the gold. They will be competing with 154 other countries in Rome, Italy, this week. Since Nigeria couldn’t qualify for the World Cup, this will be our World Cup.

Anthony Iwegbu and his students, Don Anele Munachimso Marvelous and Egejurum Onyedikachi Ethan from Diamond Special College, Owerri, have arrived in Lagos safely and are set to head to Rome, Italy, to represent Nigeria at the International STEM Olympiad this week. His students won the Senior and Primary categories for the 2026 South East Maths Olympiad. His students will be competing with students from 154 other countries. Their assignment is simple: bring home the gold.

Next week, I will be taking 3 students and 2 teachers to Rome, Italy, all expenses paid by me. All visas have been issued and all arrangements have been sorted. The students will represent Nigeria in the Maths and Science categories of the International STEM Olympiad. They will compete alongside 154 other countries. The students who won the 2026 South East Maths Olympiad and the teachers who supported them are going. Both the teachers and the students will experience growth together. I will continue to push our bright minds to global stages. In 10 years, I pray you will be alive to see the outcome of our investments in our children today.

His remarkable acting career came to an end with his passing today. He will be remembered as a great actor. May his soul rest in peace ✌️.

Josiah Ebuka Chukwu, an SS2 student from St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi, Lagos, won the first edition of the Sterling Bank Mathematics Quiz. He defeated everyone in the country. He won the ₦500k star prize. He won’t be allowed to participate again. The next quiz is on July 11th, 2026. Education can be fun and rewarding.

@Uduakabasi70375 There are some things you can basically teach an ignorant woman in your life, which she will remain thankful for. But joking about that ignorance to strangers online is something I find baffling especially if that lady is so dear to us.

@Wizarab10 You are right Dickson. Remembered when my dad was sick. I personally took him to the hospital and waited till other family members and concerned people joined us. The entire scene brought tears to my eyes. Been years now. Pops is doing great. Wishing your mum total recovery.

Recently, my mom was on admission. Everyday, myself, my siblings and my dad were at the hospital. We kept her company till 10pm before we dispersed, with one person staying back overnight. Everyday, I looked around and saw the entire family and I smiled. It made me realized part of the ressons I hated living abroad. Your love one is sick and all you can do is send money. Meanwhile, your heart is beating fast because you cant see them. There is celebration or random Sunday family gathering and you are the only one missing. The reason I always show up in person for anything is that money cannot fill the place of presence. It is the memories we share that lingers. Many families can't gather together anymore for celebration or caregiving. The only time some families can gather now is burial, and even burial no dey see complete family again. Nigeria has to work for the next generation. They deserve to gather around with their cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, parents, and grandparents on a random Sunday.
