Michael Young (behind the table), pupil at Dartington Hall School, then famed social entrepreneur. To either side are the dancers of the Ballets Jooss, who found refuge from Nazi Germany at Dartington. On the far left are Surrealist painter Cecil Collins and his wife Elisabeth.

So very sad to hear of @JonathanCoopr's sudden death – he was a great supporter of people struggling for freedom in many walks of life, including those connected to Dartington Hall @SavingHall @DartingtonTrust
Jonathan Cooper@JonathanCoopr

#ADartingtonOuting - @DartingtonArts LGBT+ Arts Festival - was a great opportunity for me to explore @Dartington Hall's rich #LGBT past. Dorothy & Leonard Elmhirst were remarkable. They created a safe haven for all at Dartington. Here's the PPT of my talk bit.ly/2ymHsnd

We at Save Dartington are devastated to hear of the death of @JonathanCoopr a wonderful man & a huge supporter of this campaign and of course of #DartingtonHall. Our love to his partner @KevinChilds10 and to his family and our heartfelt thanks to the man himself.

And this is why folk are ao disappointed in @DartingtonTrust decision to sell land for open market housing - the least useful and most uncreative outcome to their financial woes @SavingHall @SchumacherColl @francesnorthrop @atmosfortotnes @AtmosTotnes @robintransition

Average loss of #agricultural land per year is 26,000 hectares per year over the last 20 years (Savills UK). Let's not lose another 650 to greenfield development. #harvest21 @RosieP4 @UttlesfordDC

I'll be talking about Dartington Hall and other attempts to build a better world at @EastGateBooks, Totnes at 7pm on 28 July, followed by 8pm drinks at Ben's Wine & Tapas a few doors up. Please come and join either part of the evening. @DartingtonTrust @TTTotnes @picadorbooks

@maryindevon Then maybe clarify for us. How will the area in South Ham’s Local Plan be divided into protected and growth zones? Which will be a growth zone?

We're thinking of including a few Victorian and Edwardian houses with original features and scope for restoration in our newsletter. Would you like this? Would you nominate houses for sale we can help find appreciative owners for? rightmove.co.uk/properties/109…

@garthur1 @SavingHall Nope, a new local plan would not have to be created. The existing one would be maintained and could work.

Gov’s proposal to zone areas is completely flawed! How do you zone somewhere like the S.Hams? Which third of it should be a growth area? Totnes & the Dart Valley? Dartmouth? We entirely depend on tourism & farming. Zoning will destroy our economy & this beautiful area forever.

@garthur1 The whitepaper does suggest it would only zone those areas identified in the joint local plan. So it would not be the whole of the South Hams, but those areas already specifically referenced in the local plan.
