The difference between Barcelona and Real Madrid is the standard at both clubs. Barcelona are content winning the Copa del Rey and La Liga, while Real Madrid see the Champions League as their ultimate goal. If you take out the golden generation of Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta, Barcelona would have just one Champions League. The people running Barcelona never imagined winning five Champions Leagues as early as the 2000s. That is why they are content going 12 years without winning the Champions League. A club like Barcelona, who haven't won the UCL for 12 years, should be making ruthless decisions to build a strong team, but the incompetent members running the club don't see it as a big issue as long as they are winning domestic trophies. Why hasn't Araújo been told to find a new club so that a proper centre back can be brought in? Barcelona's biggest issue last season was defence. Now they are planning to go into the same season with Gerard Martín and Cubarsí as partners again. I will say it again: this club has a mediocre standard compared to what is projected from outside.

Hansi Flick ne voit pas de nécessité urgente de recruter un nouveau défenseur central, sauf si l’un des joueurs actuels de l’effectif venait à partir. L’Allemand fait entièrement confiance à Gerard Martin au poste de défenseur central gauche, après les performances qu’il a réalisées au cours de la saison dernière @ffpolo
