The change means millions of businesses using Square could soon begin accepting Bitcoin by default, rather than opting in manually. The rollout is part of Block’s broader push to integrate Bitcoin payments across its ecosystem, leveraging the Lightning Network for fast, low-cost transactions. Sellers will still have the option to disable the feature or automatically convert Bitcoin to USD at the point of sale. It would mark the moment when Eurasian powers were once again dominant over Western powers (1492). Finally, a rapid crash in the dollar's purchasing power coupled with military defeat could well break apart the American union (1776). Few seem to viscerally understand just how dependent America is on money printing. But the end of the petrodollar is the end of Keynesianism as we know it. And if there's a sudden cost-of-living spike on top of pre-existing levels of political polarization, which are already near Civil War levels...we could see the scenarios that Dalio, the Fourth Turning, and Turchin have described.

The most important thing I’m not reading here is that every child is different. Pulling out ANY model and think it can be projected on every child is nonsensical. It’s through observing the individual child and its response to its surroundings what should lead the parent towards a tailored level of guidance. Rigid institutional messaging that frames any crying or self-soothing practice as automatically building (or destroying) independence tends to oversimplify complex developmental realities.

Experts are battling over the "cry it out" approach to babies, so let me weigh in here: Making your kid cry it out from day one and leaving them in the crib for 6 hours at a time with a full diaper is abuse. Full stop. Rocking your 9-month old to near-sleep and then placing them in bed and standing with them while they self-soothe to sleep, then allowing them to cry for short intervals while you check in on them, physically reassure them without picking them up, and teach them self-soothing techniques so they beging to develop the ability to manage their own stress is healthier. Responding every time your child makes a sound and sweeping them up into your arms to rescue them from their feelings so they never learn any self-soothing is not healthy for their brain development. There is a healthy window of tolerance that needs to be built first on a foundation of responsiveness for AT MINIMUM the first 6 months, based on most developmental models. Choosing to encourage self-soothing after that window should be done carefully and with continuous safety for the child. Making them feel SAFE is mandatory. Helping them LEARN TO SOOTHE and disconnecting feelings from actual danger is a parent's job, so the child does not grow up learning every tiny feeling is life or death. As always, moderation and smart context-driven behaviors are going to win here.
