Love haute cuisine? Here's a recipe for #microplastics mixtures with the same level of polydispersity as in nature. This innovation will improve risk assessments for human and environmental health by providing realistic testing materials. ->Vera de Ruijter bit.ly/40MB0Cv

Just accepted: Microplastic diversity increases the abundance of antibiotic resistance genes in soil Another great paper with the excellent team surrounding @YGZHURCEES Will share details of open-access paper once available #microplastic #SoilHealth

New study reveals that everyday LDPE food packaging can release 66-2034 #microplastics /cm² and hundreds of plastic-derived organic compounds under simulated conditions like microwaving, UV, freezing, & more. Time to rethink plastic wraps? doi.org/10.1021/acs.es…

#FastFashion

The most grim plankton compilation video I've made. This should only be a beautiful world of microlife. Instead it's a microplastic-polluted, horror movie. Beauty and the beast. @zeiss_micro

20 yrs after my 1st paper on microplastics, the science is clear microplastics are now widely distributed across the planet, causing harm & contaminating the food we eat the water we drink & the air we breathe. It’s time to change the way we design use and dispose of plastics!
University of Plymouth@PlymUni

In 2004, @ProfRThompson led the first ever study – published in @ScienceMagazine – to use the term #microplastics to describe the tiny plastic particles being found in the marine environment.
