Could you solve a crime with science? 🩸🔍 This summer at Science North, put your detective skills to the test in CSI: Blood Spatter, where you'll learn how forensic scientists analyze bloodstain patterns to help reconstruct what happened at a crime scene. Using simulated blood and real forensic techniques, you'll create different spatter patterns, examine the evidence, and discover how physics, biology, and careful observation all play a role in criminal investigations. At Science North, the ChompSaw lets visitors turn ordinary cardboard into insects, animals, mythical creatures, and just about anything else they can imagine. Big machines have officially arrived at Dynamic Earth! There's something new to discover before you even head underground. 🚜👷‍♀️ Next to the iconic Big Nickel, you can now get up close to real mining equipment showcasing the technology and innovation behind modern mining. Thanks to our partners at Epiroc and Komatsu, these impressive machines are now part of the Dynamic Earth experience. The lineup will change throughout the season, so every visit could bring the chance to see a different piece of mining equipment. After exploring the surface, continue underground on one of our guided mine tours, including the new Next-Generation Mine Tour, to discover how mining has evolved and where it's headed next. Road-tripping around Northwestern Ontario this July? Come find us on the highway! 🚐 If you're packing up the car, heading to the lake, or exploring the region this summer, our Bluecoats are travelling too! We'll be bringing hands-on science to libraries, parks, and community festivals all month long. CANADA DAY at SCIENCE NORTH is almost here! 🇨🇦 DRONE SHOW UPDATE: This year's drone show launches from James Jerome Park. The park and Lily Creek Boardwalk will close at 8pm for show setup and safety. The best viewing spots on Science North grounds are highlighted in yellow on our event map, including the main lawns, the path outside the main lobby, and the lawns along Paris Street. Please note there will be no access to the floating dock during the drone show and fireworks. Beginning at 9:45pm and lasting approximately one hour, vehicles exiting Science North's parking lot and travelling west on Ramsey Lake Road toward Paris Street must turn left and proceed south on Paris Street. Road closures will be in effect along Paris Street during the drone show and fireworks. For the latest updates before you travel, call 311.
