I took this job for many reasons, including to increase post-bacc and post-doc training opportunities for rising stars in Social Psych. So please share with the people you know who fit that description. 4/4

I have a surprising professional update: I've moved to a new position! As of 8/8, I am a Kaiser Family Foundation Chair in Clinical Translational Science at the TSET Health Promotion Research Center (OUHSC/Stephenson Cancer Center) in Tulsa, OK. And I'm hiring! 1/n

I’m happy to announce I have formally accepted an assistant professor of psychology position at @VTPsychologyIO starting August 2024. Excited for this next adventure, but first things first graduation!

I haven't shared here yet but I will be recruiting a new PhD student next year. With funding from NIH, we're doing some pretty cool dyadic process work in smoking and I'm keeping up with questions about motivation more broadly. I hope you'll send students my way.

@erinomarakunz Ok, so is it actually happening there? I’m so not interested in making multiple accounts if people are just to be back here in another month.

Our training area is interdisciplinary, making this a potentially ideal place where someone has strong research interests in both social/cognitive and neuroscience. As far as academic jobs go, I think this one is pretty sweet. We hope to see your applications!

We are hiring at UGA! If you are a good fit, please consider applying! I'd love to see a social neuroscientist in this role. Note: While I am not on the search committee, I am the chair of the training program where this hire will be housed.

@jacasiegel I love the cropped version of it. Yes, you look serious. You are serious! It’s serious but soft and I think that combination is 💯

Honest opinions... is this headshot too intense to use for professional purposes? I think I like it, but it's very serious.

Success hinges on our connections with others. But why do certain relationships help us succeed more than others? Our new JPSP (w/@mrossignacmilon, @KoriLKrueger, Mandy Forest, Tory Higgins, Abby Scholer) identifies shared reality as an important predictor of goal success! 🧵1/

I was this many years old when I realized I don’t hate writing. I actually love it. I just hate how difficult it is to make sense. Big thoughts today.

@lisapsy1 For me, the most stressful part of being an academic is that I’m never caught up and things are rarely done. I’ve grown in genuine acceptance of that, which has started to reduce my stress levels. I also build in a low stress day each week that is just for me and slow work.

Two dr appointments today - both said I have to reduce my stress levels. Also heard this from 2 other specialists this month. Solutions? Other than quit my job or hire a personal assistant?

And if you’re interested in putting together or joining symposium, don’t be shy about reaching out to people in the southeast. Most of us are willing to join together for a session but need a prompt.

@erinomarakunz Once the community culture starts, it snowballs. Everyone works to motivate each other. They realize what a rare chance they have to get and give so much and the vets set the stage for rookies.

@erinomarakunz We don’t do lab meetings-we do lab work sessions (2 hours each) each week with half the lab at each. Students master skills and teach others (e.g., abstracts, coding, IRB, Qualtrics, Sona). Peer review of abstracts, grad school statements, studies, etc.

The Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists will be returning to our annual Fall conference in November! This conference is a great place for students to present and to catch up with local colleagues. Hope to see you there! #SSSP2023 spsp.org/events/society…
