This makes my heart smile! Happy reading!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Katie Carlson@kecarlson
These 4 started their own lunch time book club. Today they got to read outside and loved every second of it. They are reading Room to Dream and we are reading Front Desk as a class. Thank you @kellyyanghk for making reading exciting in my 4th grade class. @APSGardenHills

Genius at work. 🚧
For young children, problem solving is a lot like the scientific method.
Faced with a challenge, they brainstorm and test potential solutions to see which, if any, are successful.
Which leads us to this little scientist, whose favorite zoo exhibit has just closed; its access literally blocked by a park employee.
Her first solution (“I’ll just slip through this small opening between you and the doorframe”) is a bust.
But her second (“Would you come with me for a moment, there’s something I’d really like to show you over here”) works like a charm.
You have to admire the deep, multi-step thinking involved here.
And appreciate the zoo employee, who plays along gamely - despite knowing she’s about to be taken for a ride.
What a joy to watch her developing mind at work.

You’re not even 10!
Need a smile? Check out the complex mathematical thinking that little Jacob displays here as he recounts a recent conversation with a his friend, Mark.
Such a great grasp of time and number for such a little guy.
If you enjoy this video, know that I could fill this entire account using the examples of his cleverness posted to his mom’s IG, which is donna_jabobs_mammy.
Such a precocious thinker.
Go give them a follow… definitely one of my favorites.

“We’re down by one point…” 🏀
Dozens of you tagged me yesterday on this lovely video of a family infusing a little dramatic play into their toddler’s indoor basketball practice.
There’s so much to love here.
Our hero’s enthusiastic high five and “Yes, Coach!” had me cheering along, even before the joyful celebration at the end.
So fantastic to see the whole family celebrating his success. Watch his face when his parents react. He’s just so delighted.
Fully expect to see this little star take over the NBA in 2046.

Excellent article examining the question:
“How can reading instruction best help students develop & flourish as literate beings in the ways that matter most?”
& reimagines science of reading with a “bolder and broader vision”

Systematic review & meta-analysis: readers' theater showed effects on fluency (accuracy, automaticity, and prosody) and on comprehension. Appreciate that readers' theater can act as a pedagogical bridge between word reading & comprehension. 🌉💗sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
