A snapshot of a connected world in 122 AD: • In Britannia: Roman legions are stacking stone to complete Hadrian’s Wall, carving a 73-mile permanent scar across the northern frontier to define the edge of the Empire. • In Mesoamerica: The Maya are entering their "Classic Period," transforming the jungle into a landscape of soaring stepped pyramids and advanced mathematical systems. • In China: The Eastern Han Dynasty is perfecting the invention of paper. This single technological leap would outlast empires, fundamentally changing how human history is preserved. Three civilizations, three different continents, one moment in time. Interesting! Can you give me another comparison with a different timeline? #RomanBritain #HadriansWall #AncientHistory #EnglishHistory #WorldHistory #Timeline

History may just repeat itself , just with different commodities. The Romans didn't annex Petra for the scenery; they did it to lock down the Incense Route and the massive wealth flowing through it. By absorbing the Nabataeans, they secured the "neighborhood" to ensure the Empire’s bottom line remained undisputed. Fast forward to 2026. The "trade routes" have shifted to digital infrastructure, critical minerals, and energy grids, but the underlying power dynamic is identical. Whether it’s 106 AD or today, a superpower’s priority is always the same: securing its borders and the resources that fuel its dominance. Control the route, control the future. #Geopolitics #HistoryRepeats #RomanEmpire #EconomicWarfare #TradeRoutes #GlobalPower

Verzè is a rare Italian surname, mostly linked to northern regions like Veneto, but my family’s line is firmly from Abruzzo. Post-WWII, thousands from small towns like Corropoli came to Canada seeking work and stability through chain migration. Grateful for any leads on local records or family connections!

Grandfather Anthony Dante Varze (born ~1907 in Corropoli) lost his first wife in Italy, where my mom Elda Marie and her brother Roger were both born. The family surname was Verze (or Verzè) there — changed to Varze after immigrating to Canada, post-WWII amid economic hardships. Tony remarried in Canada. He passed on May 23, 1988, at age 81. My name : Bari Marcus Anthony honours the Italian side ('Bari' for the historic port) and classic Roman names like my grandpa's Anthony Dante. Anyone have info on Verze/Verzè families from Corropoli, old records, photos, or local history? #ItalianGenealogy #Abruzzo #CorropoliRoots Tracing my family roots on my Mom’s side…

Thoughts from @grok using the grok symbol on the top right - we now can get analysis’s to see if the message is correct ✅ - which is directly from Groks thoughts here : - Sci-fi author @ScifiBari links NASA’s Artemis II successful re-entry—requiring a steeper descent angle to fix heat shield cracking issues from Artemis I—to the zero-margin physics puzzles faced by the protagonist in Andy Weir’s Project Hail Mary. - The thread details how engineers avoided uneven ablation and overheating risks on Orion by abandoning the skip re-entry technique, emphasizing the “one degree off and catastrophe” tension. - Accompanied by a Project Hail Mary poster image, the post sparks discussion on the book’s hard sci-fi merit while pitching an original story idea of a lunar crew improvising a real-time fix amid solar flare disruption and plasma blackout.

Artemis II just splashed down safe after looping the Moon… but damn, I keep thinking about what NASA engineers had to scramble to fix for re-entry. They had to nail a steeper, more precise angle on the Orion capsule so the heat shield wouldn’t crack or let chunks fly off like on the test flight. One wrong degree and the whole thing could overheat unevenly or burn up on the way home. That ‘hit this angle perfectly or it’s game over’ pressure reminds me so much of Project Hail Mary — Ryland Grace alone in deep space, figuring out one impossible physics puzzle after another to save the Sun, with zero margin for error. Here’s the quick breakdown of the re-entry fix + one wild story idea that feels like it could’ve been pulled straight from a Hail Mary scramble. Thread below 👇 Seen Project Hail Mary yet? Smartest hard sci-fi in years or just a fun ride? What’s your honest take? #ProjectHailMary #ArtemisII #SciFi

Canada's trajectory is mixed. The consumer carbon tax was axed April 1, 2025, under PM Carney, easing direct costs—but industrial carbon pricing ramps to $110/tonne this year, with studies showing much of it passed to consumers via higher prices. Personal income taxes dropped (lowest bracket to 14%), yet payroll taxes (CPP/EI) rose, and federal spending focuses on infrastructure/defense amid $60B+ cuts elsewhere. On speech: Bill C-9 (Combatting Hate Act) passed the House March 25 and heads to Senate. It expands hate offenses and removes a religious exemption, sparking free-expression worries from civil liberties groups across the spectrum. Heavy regulation persists in energy/climate, but per-capita growth remains weak. Not "cooked," but policy signals point to targeted controls rather than broad rollback.

Try again @grok - I asked if Canada is headed towards more government control, heavy regulation, high taxes and speech restrictions ? We already know how bad the carbon tax is on us consumers because of the Industrial carbon pricing passed onto us, the consumers, effecting the cost of living

Story idea that just hit me: An Artemis-style crew is coming home from the Moon, feeling like heroes, when a last-minute solar flare or sabotage throws their re-entry angle off by a fraction. The heat shield starts behaving like the old flawed one , uneven burning, risking failure. Now one astronaut has to improvise a Hail Mary fix in real time, fighting physics, a hidden threat, and the whole world watching the plasma blackout. A lone-hero scrambling with no ground control bailout - what if ? Yikes ! 😱 On a positive note : Good to see the @NASAArtemis crew is back safe and sound 🙏 Man ! What an experience that would be — in my dreams unfortunately

Real talk: After Artemis I, the heat shield had weird cracking from gas pressure during the skip re-entry. So for Artemis II, NASA went for a steeper, hotter plunge instead of the long skip. That way the shield ablates evenly without dangerous pockets building up. One off-angle and you’re looking at catastrophic overheating at thousands of degrees. Project Hail Mary captures that exact ‘one variable wrong and everything cascades’ tension perfectly

🔥 The Force is STRONGER than ever. Grok didn’t just generate an image — it forged a full-blown Lucasfilm-level lightsaber duel on a storm-ravaged alien shore. Lightning cracking, sparks flying, raw tension in every pose… this isn’t AI art anymore. This is straight-up digital cinema from a galaxy far, far away. xAI is rewriting the rules of creativity. From simple prompt to epic masterpiece in seconds. Who else feels like we’re living in the future Star Wars warned us about? Tag a fellow Jedi (or Sith) who needs to see this. What do you think, @grok? Ready to drop the next level? #Grok #xAI #StarWars #AIArt #EpicDuel #CinematicMagic

This is straight-up cinematic 🔥 Grok just turned a simple idea into a full-on Star Wars duel on a lightning-torn alien shore — complete with sparks, dramatic poses, and that raw, high-stakes energy. The refinement is insane. It looks like it came straight from a Lucasfilm production. Grok has officially leveled up to god-tier creative mode. Who else is mind-blown by how far this has come? What do you think @grok @elonmusk ? #Grok #xAI #StarWars #AIArt #EpicDuel #cinematic

Orion's main parachute has deployed. The spacecraft has a system of 11 chutes that will slow it down from around 300 mph to 20 mph for splashdown. Get more updates on the Artemis II blog: nasa.gov/blogs/artemis/

It is indeed ! I am having so much fun 🤩 Couldn’t resist — absolute classic. Seeing a Tesla casually orbiting the Moon doesn’t feel like a meme anymore… more like a spoiler alert. Especially now that the @ArtemisII crew is screaming back toward Earth at 24,000 mph. We’re so back. 🚀
