🚨BIG: U.S. REGULATORS APPROVE TOKENIZED SECURITIES FOR BANKS U.S. financial regulators have clarified that banks can hold and deal in tokenized securities under existing rules. The Federal Reserve, FDIC, and OCC issued guidance confirming no distinction between tokenized and traditional securities. Regulators said the technology used to issue or trade a security does not change its capital treatment. Banks must still maintain capital buffers against financial stress. The rule applies to tokens issued on both permissioned and permissionless blockchains. The move follows new SEC guidance clarifying that tokenized securities fall under existing securities laws.
