@LeaskyHT that's certainly a stain on his legacy but we can't reduce his life and his impact to that decision, and it's long time at the helm of Scotland justifies looking at his story to understand a long period of Scottish history

@ScotlandEurope Up to a point: I don’t think a man who took money from Europe’s most authoritarian regime while it was murdering and persecuting independence supporters tells us anything about Scotland’s mainstream sovereignty movt. His story is his own, not that of Scottish nationalism.

Is there a single European perspective on Salmond? Nah. Some, especially in the east, are going to struggle to see beyond his late-career collaboration with Kremlin media. On other hand, some pro-Indy Catalans see him as an inspirational pathfinder. thetimes.com/article/93738a…
