Prayer Gathering at the Alberta Legislature This week, we gathered at the Alberta Legislature to pray for our province and nation, reflecting on Psalms 82, Isaiah 9:6, and Romans 8:14. These scriptures remind us of our duty to seek justice, trust in God's governance, and follow His guidance in all we do. • Psalms 82 calls on leaders to defend the weak and uphold righteousness. We prayed that those in positions of authority would lead with wisdom, integrity, and a heart for the people they serve. • Isaiah 9:6 reminds us that "the government shall be upon His shoulder," declaring Christ as our Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. We lifted up Premier Danielle Smith and our caucus, asking for wisdom, strength, and guidance as they lead Alberta. • Romans 8:14 affirms that "those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God." We prayed that Albertans would have courageous and humble hearts, seeking unity and strength in times of uncertainty. We also prayed for Calgary, Edmonton, and all of Canada, asking for peace, prosperity, and leadership that reflects God's wisdom. We specifically prayed for Premier Danielle Smith to have the strength of Esther—to stand firm in her convictions and lead with courage for the good of Albertans. Additionally, we prayed for the President of the United States, asking that he be granted wisdom, discernment, and strength in his leadership. The relationship between Canada and the U.S. is deeply interconnected, and we prayed for cooperation, mutual respect, and policies that benefit both nations. With the recent announcement of tariffs on Canadian goods, including a 10% tariff on oil and gas imports starting February 18, we lifted up our leaders, businesses, and workers, asking for protection against economic hardships and for fair, productive trade agreements. We prayed that diplomacy and collaboration would prevail, ensuring stability and prosperity for industries that so many Canadians rely on. As Matthew 18:20 reminds us, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Today, we stood together in faith, believing that God is present and that He will continue to guide and bless Alberta, Canada, and our international relationships. May we seek His wisdom and strength as we navigate the path ahead. #PrayerForAlberta #Faith #Leadership #Community #Matthew1820 #Psalms82 #Isaiah96 #Romans814 #CanadaUSRelations #abpoli #ableg

Alberta will host the 2028 World Cup of Hockey! From backyard rinks across small towns, to packed NHL arenas, the love of the game runs deep in our province. I am very excited to see the World Cup in 2028 here in Alberta!

It was wonderful to join @tanya_fir this morning for the flag raising ceremony to celebrate Francophonie Month here in Alberta. One of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave me was sending me to a French immersion program when I was younger. Alberta’s Francophones have made, and continue to make, invaluable contributions to our province. Let us celebrate their legacy and work towards a future that embraces and celebrates bilingualism!

Ending the repressive dictatorship in Tehran and halting its nuclear ambitions once and for all would be a monumental step towards regional stability. It also offers hope of a better life for the long-suffering people of Iran who have waited two generations for this moment. Let us hope they may soon embark upon a new chapter in the history of their country, one defined by freedom, justice and peace. The world owes a great debt to all those who put themselves into harm’s way for global peace and security.

On Pink Shirt Day, Albertans come together to take a stand against bullying. Kindness is leadership and Alberta is at its strongest when every person can feel safe and confident in their communities. By fostering respect, care and personal responsibility, we set a clear example for the next generation and continue to build a more united and resilient Alberta. 💗 #PinkShirtDay #ABpoli

Thank you to @BvilleNouvelle and @cantfindmario for covering this important discussion. Alberta is growing at a historic pace. That growth brings opportunity, but also real pressure on healthcare, housing, schools and infrastructure. The proposed referendum is about giving Albertans a direct voice on immigration management and our province’s future. We need balance. We need sustainability. And we need every Albertan heard. #abpoli

Liberals and the NDP pushed aggressive phase-out policies for cheap reliable coal and natural gas power generation, while Canada’s competitors expanded production, forcing a shift toward heavily taxpayer subsidized expensive green energy that drives up system costs. The result: stalled projects, lost investment, and Canadian energy jobs moving elsewhere. Ideology-driven policy weakened our greatest economic advantage. Who knew this would end in a catastrophe for Canadians?

With the new Assisted Living Framework, Alberta’s government is relieving pressure on hospitals and ensuring Albertans get the care they need, when and where they need it. The Framework drives immediate results and ensures lasting improvements to strengthen Alberta's assisted living sector through four pillars: ✅Support aging in place: Expands home care and non-medical supports to help Albertans age well in their homes and communities. ✅Connect patients to the right care: Strengthens pathways out of hospital and into the community for non-acute patients through improved diversion and discharge planning. ✅Modernize funding and foster innovation: Aligns funding to prioritize patient outcomes and ensures dollars follow patients, not beds. ✅Build for the future: Drives the largest continuing care expansion in the province’s history, building capacity to meet the needs of Alberta today and into the future.

Thank you, Minister @MattJonesYYC. I truly appreciate the time you took to meet and listen. It’s this kind of hands-on, collaborative approach with local partners that gives me confidence we can work through the challenges and continue strengthening health care for Cold Lake and the broader Lakeland region.
Matt Jones@MattJonesYYC

It was a pleasure to meet with the City of Cold Lake, a local AHS representative, and MLA @scottjcyr to discuss opportunities to strengthen health care services in Cold Lake and across the Lakeland region. Working together across all levels of government helps ensure Albertans receive the right care in the right place.

Christmas is a season to gather with loved ones, to slow down, and to be grateful for the people and blessings in our lives. For Christians, it is also a sacred time to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and the hope, grace, and love he brought into the world. From my family to yours, I wish you a peaceful, joy filled Christmas and a truly blessed holiday season.

Our UCP government is proud to support Albertan athletes compete right here at home. That's why we committed over $1.3 million in funding to support the 2026 Alberta Winter Games in the Lakeland Region. Thank you to my colleague @scottjcyr for the great question.

The elimination of the oil and gas production cap and the net-zero power regs in Alberta will unleash our energy sector, add billions to our economy, and create tens of thousands of jobs. This is just the first step, but Alberta is now well on its way to being a global energy superpower.

Today in Question Period, I asked Minister @JasonNixonAB about seniors’ housing in our region. I’m pleased to share that Sunnyside Manor in St. Paul will receive nearly $16M for major modernization and expansion — our third lodge success after Bonnylodge (2020) and Cold Lake Lodge (2019). This investment reflects years of advocacy and partnership. Thank you to the MD of St. Paul Foundation, the Town and County of St. Paul, and everyone who spoke up for better seniors’ care. A great day for St. Paul and for the Lakeland’s seniors. #StPaul #Lakeland #ABLEG #SeniorsHousing #TeamUCP #WorkingForYou
