@AdrianneCurry If they were doing the Big Steak Challenge at The Big Texan you are literally on a stage in the middle of the middle of the restaurant. To do that and suddenly claim to feel ‘on display’ is ridiculous. You go in knowing you are the center of attention.

@jeffrlasley I wish I could remember who it was, I don’t think it was the FF editor. I have all my rejection letters, but I got hundreds so I’m not looking for it.

@jeffrlasley In the late ‘90s, I drew a Fantastic Four sample to mail to Marvel. One editor replied back ‘The Thing would never wear a polo style shirt.’

@jeffrlasley George Perez used to draw laying on a couch with a board. I’ve never seen a photo, but I’ve read him talking about it. I guess he had lots of back pain.

@NickPitarra Comics is much poorer without Ed and until publishers and editors speak out against hiring bullies the industry will continue to suffer.

I’ve been reflecting a lot and discussing with fellow cartoonists about Ed Piskor’s suicide, and I felt the need to express my thoughts... Men tend to tie themselves, and their worth, into their professions. I believe that Ed had much of his ego, persona, and worth completely tied to comics, and it was all seemingly stripped away from him in a week. His publisher, Fantagraphics, with whom he’d found so much success, stated they have no future plans with him. Abrams canceled his $75k contract. His art exhibit dropped him. Cartoonist Kayfabe, his YouTube channel, which he worked tirelessly for years to build with Jim Rugg, seemed over. Hundreds of professionals and thousands of fans gossiped about him online. Local news reporters harassed him and his parents, even doxxing their addresses. Factor that in with the history of how these stains on one’s name hold people back, with a very narrow road, if any, to redemption in this industry. Keep in mind that this is all happening after a long 25-year climb. He went to the Kubert School in 2000, studied under independent underground scene greats after that, found success with Wizzywig, and real popularity with Hip Hop Family Tree. He was one of the few underground artists ever to be invited to the table at the Big Two with X-men Grand Design. He was becoming one of the prominent voices for the medium of comics, even being invited to be a keynote speaker at ComicsPro just last year. He had built up an extremely successful career many were fond of and many others were likely jealous of. On top of all that, Ed started rubbing elbows with the all-time greats that came before him, had traveled the world with legends like Geof Darrow. Having all that, identity and career, ripped from him in such a public manner, was too much. Twenty-five years of hard work were lost in a week, and his future seemed bleak, combined with unimaginable shame, abandonment, and likely embarrassment. We all in this world, and especially in comics, really need to work on giving others grace. Even to the people you feel deserve contempt now. Ed loved comics more than life itself; on that, I think we can have little doubt. Rest In Peace, Ed Piskor.

@robsonink Great video! I’ve read that Spider-Gwen script and I like what you did with it. I drew my with redesigned ‘bronze-age’ style Spider-Gwen (she had feathered hair) that didn’t go over too well. Lol, I can’t wait for the next video.

Comics are wonderful despite the industry. The comic book industry doesn't deserve comics, if that makes sense.

@rdouek Exactly, do people not like making stuff? I draw comics because I love to draw. I draw comics that no one will ever see because I love the process. I don’t want to treat creativity like ordering a pizza.

@GoAwayGreen Yes, considering Frontierland has a stronger image than Caribbean Plaza. Maybe the they figured they’d take flak from people from the Caribbean, but no cowboys will complain about losing Frontierland? Except for Woody, of course.

Isn’t it weird that WDW would redo Frontierland into New Orleans Square when you could redo Caribbean Plaza and tie-in Pirates? It would tie into Tiana’s too.
