In 2018, Jensen Huang said ray tracing in the RTX 2000 series would revolutionize gaming. Never happened! Today, the same guy says AI will revolutionize everything. Still waiting…

Amazon launches Alexa custom AI-generated podcasts. It will make a custom podcast using mainstream news - just for you. It will also make up half of the content! Amazing.

Interestingly enough, old cPanel accounts still use MD5-hashed passwords. That is both shocking and TERRIBLE. So if you’ve got an older cPanel account where they don’t enforce password updates, change your password now and it will be hashed with SHA-512 instead! DONE. techspot.com/news/112345-ka…

This is why I can’t abide those who opine about how uber-secure linux is. Bros, you have no idea… It actually takes MORE work to keep linux safe becuz the attack surface is HUGE in the server world. BTW, I still love linux. tomshardware.com/tech-industry/…

Chrome may download a 4GB AI nano model - even tho you didn’t ask for it. No problem! Do this: URL: chrome://flags → disable Optimization Guide On Device Model → restart Chrome Then delete everything in: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\OptGuideOnDeviceModel

“Copy Fail” linux bug affects every distro from past 9 years. It’s a bad one. Some of Ubuntu’s servers already seem to have been hacked.

Companies are starting to spend more money on AI tokens than human workers, yet we’re all still waiting for the massive increase in productivity and creativity that everyone predicted…

Palantir’s got a manifesto for conquering the world. AI's stealing jobs even though it often doesn’t work - at all. And of course the economy is just fine and we’re Epic Winning... even though we can’t afford fuel and food. Just what the heck is going on?? Easy! It’s all falling apart. Believe or not, that’s a GOOD thing…

I keep hearing about layoffs due to AI. I'm not sure the reason they give for layoffs is true. FB claims they're laying off more people becuz AI. Trouble is, Zuck has been trying to break into China for years and failing (most recently with the attempted acquisition of a Chinese AI company - they blocked it). FB tried virtual reality, and fell on its face. Now they're trying "AI glasses", and nobody's biting. Meanwhile, FB sucks and everyone knows it. I think most companies are laying people off becuz everything is collapsing, but it's more convenient to just officially blame AI - becuz they can't say that everything's going to shit. "The economy is strong, and we already won in Iran!" IMO the fact that everyone is chasing the AI Dream is not the cause, but a symptom of epic failure across the board. One last hurrah of overly high stock prices and irrational exuberance to make rich people richer right before everything goes kaflooey...

To generate enough money and cover the trillions of dollars being poured into AI data centers, AI economics expert and Gartner senior director analyst Will Sommer told The Verge that AI companies would need to get close to $2 trillion per year in revenue by 2029

Here’s a fun one: Palantir, the company that makes software to sift thru data for government/intell agencies, said that computers alone using AI could not defeat an adaptive adversary. Hmm…
