Ten members were present for our visit to Lybster Shed. to discuss membership, H&S, premises, funding, activities & men’s wellbeing. There’s so much creativity & skills sharing like sabrage (opening a bottle with a sabre!) & they have even started their own music group! 🩵👍

SMSA visited Insch & Leslie Shed who are now in the final stages of ownership of Leslie Hall (Old School). Latest projects inc shelves for Bennachie Leisure Centre, swift boxes for Huntly Swift Group, KerPlunk game for Alzheimer's Scotland & mud kitchen for Kennethmont School👍

Meigle & Ardler Community Shed hosted the Perth & Kinross Shed Network Meeting. Discussion covered safe working, funding, utilities, renewables, attracting new members and shed impact. Shedders were encouraged to sign the Silent No More petition - tinyurl.com/silentnomoreca… 👍

SMSA visited Kinlochleven Men's Shed. Alongside the banter, 10 Shedders sat down with Ross to chat through a whole range of topics including funding, SCIO status, health & safety, premises, governance, SMSA membership and highlights from yesterday’s network meeting.

Inspired by Sir @chrishoy speaking openly about his terminal prostate cancer diagnosis, Scottish broadcaster & actor @GrantStottOnAir had his 1st prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test despite having no symptoms & now he is urging other men to do the same! prostatescotland.org.uk

SMSA presented to 16 S2 Banchory Academy students. The pupils – all boys, working in 6 groups – have all chosen Men’s Sheds as their topic for this year’s Youth Philanthropy Initiative YPI Scotland presentations. What a huge endorsement of the impact of the movement 👍

2/2 Shedders were urged to sign the tinyurl.com/silentnomoreca… calling on @scotgov and political parties to commit to a dedicated Men’s Health Strategy & Champion. Our Dev Officer Tim Green is retiring soon and was surprised with a hand-crafted slate clock with engraving ❤️

1/2 Bridge of Don MS hosted the inaugural Aberdeen City Men's Shed Network Meeting today. We looked at funding, social prescribing, governance, charitable status and premises including the challenges of securing council property through the community asset transfer process.

SMSA visited Blackburn and Kinellar Men’s Shed. They are in the process of preparing their workshop space. The Shedders continue supporting Kinellar Community Centre, their first home, with maintenance and landscaping 👍

SMSA teamed up with NHS Ayrshire & Arran and KA Leisure to deliver a fantastic Shedwise session to the Clyde Coast & Cumbraes Shedders. Shedders were engaged & could take part in checks (BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood glucose & heart rhythm) ❤️

SMSA delivered a ShedWise workshop at Dunfermline Shed & discussed what the Shed will do to promote health & wellbeing. Participants identified changes they could make and access info & support about for example Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm screening, prostate cancer & ❤️health 👍

SMSA visited Clydebank Shed. The chat round the table covered everything from sewing to Tourette’s to male suicide rates, and every topic in between. A guided tour of the facilities followed, along with a look at plans for a new Shed. No, they’re not moving – they’re expanding👍

SMSA visited the Kyle of Sutherland Shed at the Bothy in Ardgay for coffee, craic & making plans. They will soon take over some land courtesy of the Fisheries Trust. Chats included health & safety, membership, solar panels, premises, leases & the impact of Sheds on wellbeing 👍
