Honestly, good catch. But if he doesn’t spread his legs out and have to stretch over because it was slightly misread, it’s a slightly above average jumping catch. A lot of this was giving the impression of a much more difficult catch than it really was…in my opinion.

I don't know how many times we have to have the discussion about how the wall CLEARLY effs with catch probability. This is NOT A PLAY that is made by an average outfielder 90% of the time. Period. Full stop. My-eyes-lie-sometimes-but-not-this-time.

The shitty thing is that if he starts raking now and getting back to how he was as a top prospect, we have a bit of a log jam going on. Unless we go 3 catchers deep(which I don’t see a reason for until maybe playoffs) or he is DHing, he may end up being trade bait for a big addition come trade deadline if we are still hot and vying for the divisional title.
Otherwise let him sit and see about next season. That would be my suggestion if I were in charge.

I hate that is makes sense. BUT I feel like the tiniest edge of the ball hovering over the line in an instance where the ball making the actual contact with the ground is foul should not be a factor in the call. This should be a reviewed play where the cameras see that the ball is foul rather than the perspective of the umpire. That’s all I’m going to say.

@MattSkraby I saw the 3rd base umpire say to him that it was a foul ball. Fucking ridiculous that he was on top of the ball and still got it wrong
