Completely agree @radical_referee. If you think consistency is the measure of expert officiating you are living in the 80's. Great paper by Seth Bordner (2019) on the human element of officiating
Radical Referee@radical_referee

If you disagree with my view that to want a #Ref to be #Consistent in an inconsistent game is foolish, listen to this explanation Howard gives to @RobbieSavage8 ,granted #Savage struggles to comprehend the Schooling he's given, but then he's never Refd! youtu.be/nunux4SWk_E

Universal agreement between referees is often undesirable. The best referees focus less on what the fouls is and more on what it can offer the game! Looking forward to discussing this more on the weekend @ASOS2020_QUT @QUTmedia full read in JASP bit.ly/37DNEs3

@gmaccoach Always love talking everything refereeing. Glad you found the paper interesting. Feel free to DM if you have got something particular in mind. Referee decision-making priorities are broad and what constitutes an 'accurate' decision in itself, is worthy of much discussion.

Only spent 2 minutes reading this research and interested to read findings. Goes along with what I expected. Personal experiences from a rugby union context are that focus has changed over the last 5 years.... @Scottytune tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

Ever been to a good party and wondered why? Chances are someone was pulling the strings to make it so much fun. @QUTmedia covers how referees help make the game "as great as it can be". Full research paper at: tandfonline.com/eprint/HjJKhK3…
