The nurse in charge of this woman’s care doesn’t seem to be taking her job seriously. The woman suffers from seizures. She was afraid that the nurse would neglect her so she set up her camera on her phone. She then proceeds to have multiple seizures while on camera. The nurse in charge of her was nowhere to be found but luckily another nurse walked by and saw what was going on and stepped in. The Dr let out a sigh in frustration that the woman was left alone like that while being cared for seizures. It’s one thing to be lazy and not like your job but when your job is caring over another life, the consequences need to be brutal, should she be fired and fined for her disregard for patients lives?

This is what we call “pseudo seizures”…. As a nurse we know the difference between real and fake seizures. Very easy to tell. Real seizures deprive you of oxygen and are life threatening. You’d never be left in a chair if they were real. Pulse oximeter will show what a real seizure is and I promise you the doctor already knows this (as well as the nurse) but to placate these types of patients we say we will “observe” them. Real seizure patients are on monitors. This chick wants attention. No real seizure patients ever film themselves as they’re highly embarrassed & often lose their bladder and bowels. It’s tiresome.

This is an attempt to cope with a situation she has no idea how to handle. It is a soothing technique for her anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. Her brain is attempting to regain normalcy after processing the layoff as a traumatic experience and reaching for her previous comfort locations to stabilize without spinning totally out of control. Everyone processes bad news differently. I wish I could teach the world how to alchemize and transmute pain into power. Many people need resilience and resourcefulness training. While some would say this is unhealthy, we don’t know her situation, so do not judge her for spending $20 on escapism books and getting a free $7 venti from Starbucks. She can return the books after recovering from the initial shock (if she wants to).

What is the root cause? A school had to call the cops to help with a student who had lost control. He was being reckless and acting out toward them. So what causes a child to act this way? Is it poor parenting or a broken home? He sure does have a potty mouth. Part 2 and 3 in comments below.
