Why BJP’s landslide victory in Assam? Here is my brief analysis. BJP - 82 seats INC - 19 seats Not to mention the INC’s Chief Ministerial face, Gaurav Gogoi, also lost to BJP candidate Hitendra Goswami. The BJP is way ahead of the INC in this game. Congress was very weak on the issue of illegal immigration, while the BJP built strong momentum by making it a major election agenda. Both parties want the illegal immigration issue to stay alive, but for different reasons. Congress wants their votes, so it remains soft on them. The BJP, on the other hand, benefits from their presence by consolidating more Hindu votes. BJP is ahead in this game. I can assure you, BJP will never fully resolve the illegal Bangladeshi immigration issue. Because the day they resolve it, they lose one of their biggest political weapons, and with it, a major chunk of their voter base. What should Congress do? It should also prioritise the illegal immigration issue. That way, it could disarm BJP’s biggest weapon and help Congress regain relevance among voters. But it is likely Congress will choose political correctness over reading the public mood. A major verdict awaits in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

TMC had many many issues but they also did a lot for Bengali football. They massively improved the footballing infrastructure in Bengal, helped the Bengali clubs financially, gave jobs and financial support to many footballers. Many small clubs run solely on TMC's help. TMC leaders organised expensive 'Khep Tournaments' throughout Bengal, which was bread and butter for many poor footballers.Mamata personally helped clubs whenever they needed anything. She was a true Football lover. There is a good chance that Bengali football will badly suffer from this regime change.
