#OnThisDay 65 years ago in 1961, a group of Freedom Riders boarded two buses in Washington D.C., travelling to New Orleans to challenge segregated interstate bus transport and terminal facilities. Upon arrival they walked in to a "White Only" waiting room, where police ordered them to leave. After refusing, they were arrested, as documented in our @Screenocean clip. The Freedom Rider movement went on to trigger widespread attention that ultimately led to the end of segregation rules. On Sunday, over 50,000 runners will take to the streets of London for the 46th London Marathon. The route passes many of London's most iconic landmarks including Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Hopefully the conditions will be warmer than the Siberian marathon featured here in our @Screenocean clip. It is one of the world's most extreme running contests - a marathon held at -52 degrees Celsius.
