There are many sad hearts in Tyrone and across the GAA family in Ireland following the passing of one of the all-time greats, Frank McGuigan. Frank was one of the finest players ever to adorn the red and white jersey of Tyrone and was instrumental in leading our county to two Ulster Championships. His incredible talent and performances inspired generations of Gaels not only in his hometown of Ardboe and county of Tyrone, but in communities up and down the country. My thoughts are with his family, friends, former teammates, and the wider GAA family as we mourn the loss of a great man and sporting hero. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

@CharlieCurrie12 Unity isn’t a priority in the 26 countie. FF & FG have joined forces to keep SF out of government. Meanwhile Stormont is stagnant despite SF bring the biggest party and holding the office of First Minister. This is not the SF of old but a party full of career politicians.

The vast majority of children of this generation are going about their business with a wee smile on their faces. Not hearing the laughter that Bobby wrote about so eloquently, but thanks to him & all his comrades things are better now. Giggles will come after unity.

I am a child of the ceasefire. I was born into what we were told was hope- a generation promised peace instead of funerals, opportunity instead of division, progress instead of permanent paralysis. We were supposed to inherit a future. That was the bargain. Instead, we inherited a circus. A stagnant, cynical performance where the same actors take turns at outrage while communities decay around them. A politics stripped of vision, stripped of courage, stripped even of shame. Year after year, they take the hand out of the electorate; asking for loyalty, votes, patience, understanding. While giving almost nothing back except excuses and carefully rehearsed indignation. The ceasefire stopped the killing. It did not build the future we were promised. Too many of those entrusted with power became caretakers of stagnation. They learned to survive on deadlock. To profit from division. To dress up inertia as strategy and failure as inevitability. Meanwhile ordinary people are left carrying the weight: rising costs, collapsing faith in institutions, hollowed-out public services, and the creeping suspicion that nobody in charge intends to make things better at all. But we deserve better than this exhausted political theatre. We deserve leadership with imagination. We deserve representatives who fear disappointing the public more than they fear upsetting their party machine or paramilitaries. We deserve a society that offers more to young people than managed decline and recycled slogans. I refuse to believe this is as good as it gets. I am a child of the ceasefire, but I do not intend to become another casualty of political complacency. I am determined to see something better built in my lifetime. A politics worthy of the people it claims to serve, and a future that feels like more than survival. Because peace was never supposed to be the finish line. It was supposed to be the beginning.
