The millennial craft movement vastly improved American gastronomy and I refuse to let zoomers with no cultural memory of the bland garbage we ate and drank 20 years ago meme me into thinking it is cringe.

bro you gotta try this new boutique pizza place they have this innovative new slice instead of normal pepperoni it's the kind that curl up and get all charred and then they drizzle hot honey on it and you're not gonna believe this it's served with a dollop of ricotta

@ScriptingJapan ok but could one argue that there is a morpheme boundary between "a" and "no", represented by the fact that "no" acts as a suffix to "a(no)", "ko(no)", and "so(no)"?

@7starsmessenger @edwardW2 Well yeah then generally this would make her seem a bit rought and edgy. I saw some people commenting tomboy and I don't agree. This is more I guess punkish? Semi delinquent? Potentially too-online-otaku-coded? Lots of options but in my experience distinct from tomboy stereotype.

I'm watching this video on vulgarity in Japanese language. The researcher presenting studied how Japanese translated vulgarity in Western series. Apparently there are strong norms against women using "rude" forms, so Marisa's "da ze" in Touhou is fairly rough language in context?

@7starsmessenger @edwardW2 Yeah so like, ignoring the mitigating factors of this being a fictional character and a child (?), some of these statements would be considered at least semi-vulgar. For instance: 誰もあんたのことって言ってないぜ is a sentence that could get you in trouble.

@7starsmessenger @edwardW2 Heya, so as I mention, context is everything. Tone of voice, topic, etc., ffect how the "da ze" is understood - I don't know this character, but real vs fictional also matters. However, if a woman said "da ze" in real life, it would come off as quite rough yes.
