If you’re always saying, “God forbid they post me to a village,” hear me out. I spent my entire service year in a rural community in Rivers State, and honestly… it became one of the best chapters of my life. So many memories. 🏆 Played in a community football league and we won it against 32 communities. 🎤 Attended a 2Baba concert in early 2026. 🎉 Got invited to countless events by the chairman. 😂 Met the “love of my life” at least 10 different times… in 10 different ladies. 🐔 Bought a pet chicken, a turkey, and my daughter, Freya. (Yes, she’s technically a dog, but don’t call her that. 😂) And that’s not even half of the memories. I still remember leaving Lagos for Rivers with an open heart and an open mind, ready to explore. While everyone else kept asking why I didn’t apply for a redeployment, I was already embracing the adventure. Looking back, I’m glad I stayed. Life has a funny way of surprising you. You never really know where you’ll end up, so wherever life takes you, make the most of it. We only get one life. Make it count. I genuinely enjoyed every moment of my NYSC journey.
