The only way to maintain effective and stable teams is by paying your people more than their peers. The only way to do that across the whole organization is to hire people all over the world. The only way to hire people from all over the world is to have a global team of recruiters, local to the regions they source talent from. The only way for those recruiters to be effective at hiring is to have someone who has actually scaled brands & built teams install effective ecomm hiring practices. There you have it- HireTidal.com is the only way to hire.

What people think founders talk about in our weekly meetings: "Let's talk about the vision for the brand and adjust the cap table" Reality: "Who's email did we use for the login Iowa's state tax portal- they're claiming we owe 2016-2023 and I've been on hold for the past hour with no idea if it's real, how much we owe and a way to pay it"

The best teams I've seen all have one thing in common- They pay their people more than their peers. Not 5% more. Meaningfully more. Enough that leaving would be a bad financial decision, not just an emotional one. Most founders can't actually do this. Payroll is already a giant line item. You can't just decide to pay 30% above market and absorb it. But you can do that when you hire globally. The math works for everyone: • Senior experience at a cost structure that let us actually invest in keeping them • Our mid-level hires top-of-market pay for their region, autonomy in their role, and a real seat at the table • Turnover stays low because there was no peer down the street offering 20% more The hiring-an-expert-who's-done-it-before play usually isn't feasible domestically. Global hiring makes it accessible. Pay people what they're worth. Give them autonomy. Just hire where the dollar goes further so you can actually afford to do both. hiretidal.com/guide

The Slack command + paste shortcut is different from every other app. Anyone know why? It's like the guy who wears shorts in winter because his "legs don't get cold." Technically fine. Annoying to everyone around him.

A brand I was talking to recently was looking to hire a part-time accounting manager to clean up their books. I've seen this a lot. Messy financials, bring someone in, hope it gets better. The issue is the hire can't outrun a diagnosis you haven't done yet. At Vincero Collective we went through this. Scaled fast, supply chain got complicated, and our books reflected that chaos. COGS was a disaster. Inventory valuation was unreliable. The way we tracked everything in our PO’s never matched cleanly with WIP, PO credits and rebates weren’t reconciled correctly, it gets complicated fast. We kept thinking the answer was another set of hands. “We just need an accountant to figure it all out.” It wasn't. The answer was figuring out where the problem actually lived. In order to do it, we had to understand the why. A generalist accountant can't fix a COGS problem they don't understand yet. A marketing team making decisions based off of murky books compounds the problem. A founder who has no confidence in their financials isn’t paying themselves…which is the whole point of running a business in the first place. Figure out your hardest accounting problem first. Then hire for it.
