@egoraptor @Nagrolaz This! Fossil is the next set I was thinking of master setting for the nostalgia. Also worth considering things like artist collections. Artist collections are where I have the most fun!

just collect unlimited (non 1st edition, shadowed) base set or fossil or something. Everything's relatively cheap, you can find them everywhere, and it still has the allure of like... the 3 big hits that are pricey but not outrageous. Base Set Unlimited Charizard is like 300 bucks.

What pokemon set would you guys recommend collecting for fun as a beginner?
